Box Score 2 Lourdes University women's volleyball team hit a bump in the road on day one of the UM-Dearborn Tournament taking place in Dearborn, MI. Lourdes dropped the first match-up of the day as they fell to the host school UM-Dearborn in a five set match up 25-22, 12-25, 25-14, 19-25, 10-15. Lourdes would turn around just a couple of hours later and have to play a very tough team out of New York in Daemon College who would sweep the Gray Wolves in three sets 22-25, 12-25, 25-27.
In game one on the day it was a seesaw battle between the two teams with UM-Dearborn coming out on top in the crucial fifth and final set 10-15. Head Coach
Greg Reitz described it as “both teams just couldn't quite find a rhythm and at times it didn't look pretty”. With the loss Lourdes fell to 1-1 overall on the young season.
Just a couple hours later the Gray Wolves were back on the court trying to find their stride when they ran into a collegiate volleyball powerhouse in Daemon College. Daemon took the first set and was only finally challenged in the third and decisive set by winning in extra points 27-25.
Inconsistency plagued the Gray Wolves most of the day as Coach Reitz stated saying “We just aren't playing with enough intensity to win those close sets. When we show signs of it we look pretty good, but right now we are just too inconsistent”.
