Box Score It was a fun night had by all in the Tam-O-Shanter as the Lourdes Gray Wolves Women's Volleyball Team to the court in their home opener against WHAC opponent Concordia in a non-conference match. Lourdes would win the home opener needing four hard fought sets 3-1.
The first set of the night set the tone for what would be a battle all the way to the very end with both teams looking like two prized heavyweight fighters as they exchanged jabs. Each team would hold a lead and rally points were in flux as the Gray Wolves would come out victorious winning 25-23. The Gray Wolves would get 15 kills in the first set while committing only four errors.
Set number two would look like the first set for some time before the Gray Wolves were able to put away the Cardinals 25-20 to take a two sets to none advantage. The Gray Wolves lacked on the attack statistics with only nine kills while committing six errors.
The third set of the match would mostly be controlled by Concordia in this one as they would manage a three to four point advantage and the Gray Wolves would rally at times but would come up short 22-25. While the kills numbers went up so did the errors as they Gray Wolves committed 12 errors in the set.
The fourth set on the night would prove to be all in the favor of the Gray Wolves as they would dominate behind the strong play of substitute Dolores Hidalgo. Hidalgo would have four kills and an ace in the set propelling the Gray Wolves to the home opening win and the second win of the season 25-16.
Lourdes University improved their overall record to 2-4 while Concordia dropped to 2-3 overall.
Up next for the Gray Wolves is a trip to Chicago, IL to participate in the St. Xavier Tournament. The Gray Wolves will open up on Friday against Roosevelt University at 4pm.
