Box Score The Lourdes University Women's Volleyball team suffered a tough three straight set loss to open up the Gray Wolf Invite on Friday afternoon against powerhouse Asbury University of Kentucky 22-25, 15-25 and 19-25.
The Gray Wolves started strong in the first set giving the Eagles all they wanted and more. With score at 18-13 in favor of Lourdes Coach JP Rader called a timeout to fire up his team. The strategy worked as they would reel off point after point to the set victory 22-25.
The Eagles would leave no doubt as to their dominance in set two when they would jump out early and eventually lead at one point 20-10 over the Gray Wolves. Asbury would eventually win the set after a small but futile fight from the Gray Wolves 25-15.
Set three looked a lot better for the Gray Wolves as they would hang punch for punch with the Eagles until the 11-11 point. But then the set would belong to the Eagles as they would win handily 25-19.
Stat Totals included 37 kills for Asbury compared to just 21 for the Gray Wolves. The rest of the stats were very close with the Eagles committing one less error than the Gray Wolves 19-18 and each team had five aces from the service line.
For the Gray Wolves they will play again at approximately 7:00pm at the TAM-O-SHANTER against OSU-Marion. Admission is free.
Game one on the day featured OSU-Marion vs. Lawrence Tech. Lawrence Tech won in three sets.
