Taking to the road for the fourth time in the last five matches, Lourdes dropped a 25-11, 25-19, 25-18 match against Aquinas at Sturras SFC in Grand Rapids, Mich. on Friday evening.
 
Hitting errors hurt Lourdes throughout the night, as the Gray Wolves hit a -.036 for the match.  Aquinas led just 14-11 in the opening set before running off the final 11 points to take the early lead.  Lourdes again kept set two close midway through the second set. The Saints led just 15-14 before scoring 10 of the final 15 points to earn the victory.
 
In the final set, Aquinas raced out to a 9-3 lead, only to see the Gray Wolves close to within two, 17-15.   Lourdes could not finish the comeback though.
 
Katie McKenty (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame H.S.) led Lourdes with seven kills while Ali Mass (Walbridge, Ohio/Tiffin Calvert H.S.) added six kills.  Michi Jimenez (Vega Baja, P.R./Juan Quirindongo Morrell H.S.) had a team-high 12 digs.
 
Elle Sturgell led Aquinas (5-11, 2-3 WHAC) with eight kills while Nicci Thomas had 25 assists and 14 digs to pace the Saints.
 
Lourdes (7-16, 0-5) will return home to face Marygrove on Wednesday evening.  First serve is set for 7 p.m. at Tam-o-Shanter.
