For the first time at home this season, and just the third time overall, Lourdes recorded a three-set sweep on Wednesday evening, defeating Spring Arbor 25-22, 25-21, 25-9 at Tam-o-Shanter.

"This was a good match win for us," head coach
Greg Reitz stated after the match. "We did a good job of taking care of business. We really finished strong, which is something we have not been doing lately."

Stef Comte (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame H.S.) led Lourdes with 12 kills and hit .346 on the evening while
Keyonna Gregory (Holland, Ohio/Springfield H.S.) swung at a .474 rate and registered 11 kills.Â
Lexie Curtis (Toledo, Ohio/Bedford H.S.) handed out 38 assists in the three-set victory.

"Our middles were very efficient for us tonight," Reitz added. "Lexie set a good match. Her assists per set was among her best numbers all year."

The opening set was close throughout with 11 ties and seven lead changes. Lourdes trailed 17-14 before a 5-0 run by the Gray Wolves swung the momentum and gave the hosts the lead for good. Richards recorded an ace and the Gray Wolves registered four kills during the span.

Lourdes had to battle back again in the second set. Trailing 15-11, the Gray Wolves went on a 6-1 run to retake the lead and increase their advantage in the match.

Spring Arbor was held to -.120 hitting in the final set as the Gray Wolves limited the Cougars to just four kills while hitting .423 as a team. Richards served the opening six points of the set and another 5-0 run by Lourdes extended the lead to 16-5 and the Gray Wolves were on their way to their 10
th victory of the season.Â

Michi Jimenez (Vega Baja, P.R./Juan Quirindongo Morell H.S.) led all players with 16 digs for the Gray Wolves.

Rebekah Kukat led Spring Arbor (5-13) with seven kills while Tennille Marowelli tallied a double-double with 10 assists and 13 digs for the Cougars.

Lourdes (10-7) will return to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Friday evening as the Gray Wolves host Aquinas. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. and the match will take place at Sylvania Southview High School.
