Playing its third match in four days, Lourdes dropped a non-conference match to Saint Xavier 25-18, 25-20, 25-20 on Saturday afternoon at Tam-o-Shanter.
 
The Cougars held Lourdes to just .048 hitting for the match while tallying 46 kills to the Gray Wolves' 25 on the day.
 
The opening set was close early with 12 ties and nine lead changes.  Lourdes held a 17-16 lead before a 9-1 Saint Xavier run gave the visitors the opening set.  Lourdes hit -.061 with nine hitting errors in the set, including three during the Cougars' run. 
 
The Gray Wolves again held a 17-16 advantage in the second set only to see the Cougars battle back late.  Saint Xavier finished with a 9-3 run, including the last four points to take a 2-0 lead in the match.  Lourdes again hung around early in the third as the set was tied at 14 before four straight Cougar points allowed Saint Xavier to seize control.
 
Katie McKenty (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame H.S.) led Lourdes with seven kills while Lexie Curtis (Toledo, Ohio/Bedford H.S.) handed out 22 assists.  Alyssa Pelish (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) led the defense with 14 digs over the three sets while Michi Jimenez (Vega Baja, P.R./Juan Quirindongo Morell H.S.) and Ali Mass (Walbridge, Ohio/Tiffin Calvert H.S.) each tracked down 10 balls.
 
Heidi Gregerson led Saint Xavier (5-6) with 13 kills while Marie Hackert added 11 more.  Dominique Aramburu tallied 21 digs for the Cougars to lead all players.
 
Lourdes (8-6) will close out its four-match homestand on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves return to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play to entertain Indiana Tech.  First serve is slated for 7 p.m. at Tam-o-Shanter.
