Lourdes (10-10, 6-5 WHAC)
Match #21: Wednesday, October 8, 7 p.m. EDT
at Marygrove (4-15, 1-10 WHAC)
Northwest Activities Center - Detroit, Mich.

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: Following an upset victory over the ninth-ranked team in the country to close last week, Lourdes begins the second half of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play this week with just one match.  The Gray Wolves travel to Detroit, Mich. on Wednesday night to battle Marygrove.

Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his fifth season on the Lourdes bench, Greg Reitz has a 78-79 (.497) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  In his sixth season overall as a women's head coach, Reitz has an 98-114 (.462) career mark.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes is 11-0 all-time against Marygrove after posting a straight sets victory over the Mustangs back on Sept. 3 at Tam-o-Shanter to open WHAC action.  The Gray Wolves have lost just five sets all-time against Marygrove.  In the two previous matches in Detroit, Lourdes posted a four-set win on Aug. 24, 2011 and a five-set triumph on Oct. 9, 2013.

Earlier This Season: Lourdes opened the 2013 WHAC season with a 25-12, 25-16, 25-23 victory over Marygrove on Sept. 3 at Tam-o-Shanter.  The Gray Wolves hit .239 in the victory, including a .370 mark in the opening set.  Stephanie Richards and Katie McKenty led the Gray Wolves with nine kills each while Michi Jimenez had 14 digs.  Ashley Murphy led Marygrove with 10 kills in the loss while Kara Kempinski tallied a team-high 14 digs.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes opened the week dropping a 25-23, 19-25, 27-25, 27-25 decision to Indiana Tech at Tam-o-Shanter on Wednesday.  Stephanie Richards led the Gray Wolves with 18 kills and 16 digs.  On Friday, #25 Davenport posted a 25-22, 21-25, 25-23, 25-19 win over Lourdes at Tam-o-Shanter.  Carolyn Manley hit .355 with a team-high 15 kills in the setback.  Lourdes closed the week with a 25-23, 20-25, 19-25, 25-12, 15-9 upset victory at #9 Madonna on Saturday.  Richards posted 16 kills and 20 digs in the win.

Scouting Marygrove: The Mustangs begin the second half of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action looking to snap a seven-match losing skid after being swept at home by Aquinas on Saturday afternoon.  Ashley Murphy leads Marygrove with 138 kills on the year while Hayley Jury has handed out 264 assists.  Kara Kempinski has a team-leading 319 digs and 12 service aces while Kiara Cobbs leads the Mustangs with 35 blocks.

A Historic Victory: Lourdes victory over ninth-ranked Madonna marked just the third time that the Gray Wolves defeated a NAIA Top-25 opponent in program history.  The Gray Wolves are now 3-13 all-time against ranked foes.  The win over the Crusaders was also Lourdes first top-25 victory on the opponents' home court, as well as the first win ever against a top-10 program.

Most WHAC Wins Ever: Lourdes wrapped up the first half of WHAC play recording its sixth victory of the season in league play.  Prior to this season, there were only 11 conference matches, but the Gray Wolves never won more than five matches in any one year.  Lourdes went 5-6 in both 2012 and 2013.

A Double-Double Machine: Lourdes entered the month of October with just eight double-doubles total from five different players.  Since the calendar turned, however, Stephanie Richards has tallied three straight double-doubles for the Gray Wolves, giving her five on the year.  She had 18 kills and 16 digs against Indiana Tech last week before adding 13 kills and 11 digs against Davenport.  She closed the week with 16 kills and 20 digs in the upset of Madonna, the same match that Mallory Lenhart turned in a double-double with 18 assists and 11 digs.

Registering Digs: Lourdes had three players average at least three digs per set in the upset win at Madonna.  Michi Jimenez had 25 total digs in the five sets while Stephanie Richards added 20 more.  Lisa Urbanski posted a career high 16 digs to compete the strong defensive trio.

A Telling Stat: Offense is important and Lourdes record reflects that.  The Gray Wolves are 10-0 this season when hitting a better percentage than their opponents, but are 0-8 on the year when posting worse numbers.

Climbing the Blocking Charts: Stef Comte has already been involved in 50 blocks on the season, tying for the fifth most in a single season in program history.  Brooke Hearn and Samantha Stainbrook each had 50 blocks in the 2010 season.  Comte also ranks second all-time at Lourdes with 125 for her career.  She is just 13 rejections shy of the school mark of 138 set by Andrea Brown (2012-2013).

Acing the Competition: Lexie Curtis has now tallied 35 service aces this season, tying for third on the Gray Wolves' single season chart with Alex Blazevich (2010) and Stef Comte (2013).  She is five aces shy of Hannah Thompson's 2011 mark for second place and six aces behind Thompson's 2010 school record of 41.

Captains Named: Michi Jimenez, Mallory Lenhart, and Carolyn Manley have been named Gray Wolf tri-captains for this season.  Jimenez is a junior libero who is a two-time Honorable Mention All-WHAC pick. Lenhart and Manley are both in their first seasons at Lourdes, having transferred to the school in the offseason.

This and That: Lexie Curtis ranks 18th in NAIA averaging 0.57 aces per set and is 26th overall with 35 total aces ... Michi Jimenez has played in 302 career sets, just 11 shy of Ali Mass's (2010-2013) school record of 313 ... Carolyn Manley had a career high 15 kills against Davenport ... Stef Comte and Jimenez are the only Gray Wolves to have played in all 67 sets this year.
