Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: The 2014 postseason begins on Friday afternoon for Lourdes University as the Gray Wolves begin play in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament.  The Gray Wolves, the tournament's sixth seed, will battle Northwestern Ohio, the third seed, in the quarterfinals.  The semifinals and championship matches are slated for Saturday.

Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his fifth season on the Lourdes bench, Greg Reitz has a 85-84 (.503) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  In his sixth season overall as a women's head coach, Reitz has an 105-119 (.469) career mark.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Northwestern Ohio is 7-0 all-time against Lourdes in a series that dates back to Oct. 2, 2010.  The Racers swept this year's regular season meetings, winning in three sets in Lima on Sept. 26 before posting a five-set victory on Nov. 1 at Tam-o-Shanter.  This is the second meeting between the two schools in WHAC tournament play as Northwestern Ohio won a 3-0 match in pool play in 2011.

Earlier This Season: Lourdes suffered a 25-23, 25-23, 25-18 setback to the Racers in Lima on Sept. 26.  The Gray Wolves hit just .019 for the match and were led by Erin O'Neal who tallied nine kills.  Chanel Cantere led Northwestern Ohio with 10 kills and 12 digs.  On Nov. 1, Lourdes battled back from two sets down to force a fifth set before falling 25-20, 25-20, 21-25, 20-25, 19-17 at Tam-o-Shanter.  Angie Pagan-Perez tallied 19 kills and 17 digs for the Gray Wolves while Cantere recorded 18 kills and 22 digs for the Racers.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes hit .271 for the night on Wednesday evening and rebounded after an opening set loss to defeat Indiana Tech in four sets on the road.  Stef Comte hit .464 with 16 kills to lead the way for the Gray Wolves.  On Saturday, Lourdes forced extra points in each of the first two sets against #15 Davenport before being swept in the match.  Comte and Stephanie Richards had 14 kills each to lead the way.  The Gray Wolves ended the regular season on Saturday afternoon suffering a four-set loss to Aquinas.  Richards tallied a team-high 13 kills while Michi Jimenez tallied 31 digs.

Scouting Northwestern Ohio: The Racers have won two straight matches and enter the WHAC tournament having won four of their last five contests overall after downing both Concordia (Mich.) and Indiana Tech last Saturday.  Chanel Cantere leads Northwestern Ohio and ranks fourth nationally with 540 kills while also tallying a team-leading 49 service aces.  Cantere is also the team's dig leader with 466 this season.  Hailey Rosinski leads the Racers with 1,270 assists while Jennifer VanVleet has been involved in a team high 81 blocks.

WHAC Tournament History: Lourdes is 4-4 all-time in WHAC tournament play, having participated in the event three times.  The Gray Wolves went 0-2 in 2011, dropping a pair of matches to Davenport and Northwestern Ohio.  When the tournament moved to a bracket format in 2012, Lourdes won its first round contest against Concordia (Mich.) in four sets before being swept in the quarterfinals by Davenport.  Last season, the Gray Wolves advanced to the championship match before falling to Madonna.  Lourdes defeated Marygrove at home in the first round before downing Davenport and Cornerstone, both in five sets, in the quarterfinals and semifinals respectively.

Another Winning Season: Lourdes is guaranteed of finishing over .500 for the second straight season and third time in the program's five year history.  The Gray Wolves 17 victories are third most in school history.

Rewriting the Record Book: Michi Jimenez broke her own single season digs record last week.  The junior libero has tallied 578 digs this season, surpassing the school's previous record of 515 which she set last year.  Jimenez is also the school's career digs leader with 1,541, more than double any other player in program history.

Richards Second on Kills List: Stephanie Richards has moved into second place on the career kills list with 647 in her two years at Lourdes.  Her 324 this season rank third on the school's single season charts as well.

Acing the Competition: Lexie Curtis has shattered the school's single season service aces record, recording 57 this year, a mark that ranks 21st nationally.  Her 0.53 aces per set rank 16th in the NAIA.  Curtis has 62 career aces, third most in school history and just six shy of second place (Ali Mass, 2010-2013).

Blocking Marks: Stef Comte has tallied 83 blocks this season and has moved into second place on the school's single season blocking charts.  She is just 11 rejections shy of Andrea Brown's 2012 mark of 94.  Comte is already the school's career blocking leader with 158 stuffs.

Team Marks: Lourdes is 66 kills shy of matching the school's single season kills record.  The Gray Wolves enter the tournament with 1,412 kills in 2014.  The Gray Wolves are 77 assists shy of setting a new single season mark after tallying 1,325 helpers thus far this year.  Lourdes .159 hitting percentage as a team also ranks second in school history.  The school record is .165 set in 2010.

Captains: Michi Jimenez, Mallory Lenhart, and Carolyn Manley have been named Gray Wolf tri-captains for this season.  Jimenez is a junior libero who is a two-time Honorable Mention All-WHAC pick. Lenhart and Manley are both in their first seasons at Lourdes, having transferred to the school in the offseason.

This and That: Stephanie Richards ranks 40th in NAIA tallying 3.45 kills per set ... Michi Jimenez's 5.12 digs per set rank 44th in the nation ... Jimenez and Stef Comte have played all 113 sets this season.
