Due to safety conditions, Lourdes University has withdrawn from day two of the Aces in August Classic hosted by the University of Rio Grande at Newt Oliver Arena in Rio Grande, Ohio.
 
The Gray Wolves were slated to play matches against both host Rio Grande as well as the College of Cumberlands (Ky.) on Saturday.
 
"This may have been the toughest decision I have made as a coach," head coach Greg Reitz stated.  "We really would have liked to play both opponents, but most importantly I had to look at the safety of our student-athletes.  The heat and humidity resulted in a grease-like substance on the floor, and our kids were slipping throughout both matches last night when safety became a concern.  We already suffered one injury do the conditions, and I felt this was the best option keeping our players safety in mind."
 
Lourdes will return to the court next weekend for the Saint Xavier/Trinity International crossover.  The Gray Wolves will face Spring Arbor at 5 p.m. EST and host Saint Xavier at 9 p.m. EST on Friday night.
