Box Score Lourdes University's volleyball team continued its stellar play on Wednesday evening, winning for the ninth time in its last 11 meetings after sweeping Michigan-Dearborn 25-18, 25-18, 25-16 at the UMD Fieldhouse in Dearborn, Mich.

With the win, the Gray Wolves posted their fifth Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference victory of the season, matching the most conference wins in a single season for the program in school history. Lourdes remains tied with Davenport for second place in the conference standings, just one game behind first place Madonna.

The Gray Wolves held Michigan-Dearborn to negative hitting percentages in both the first and third sets, as the Wolverines hit -.067 for the night. Lourdes took the lead 2-1 in the opening set and never trailed the rest of the way. The Gray Wolves never trailed in the second set, scoring the first three points, and hit .269 to take a 2-0 lead in the match. In the third, with the set tied at five, Lourdes went on a 10-2 run and never looked back, securing the victory.

Stef Comte (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame H.S.) led the way offensively for Lourdes, tallying 12 kills while hitting .450.Â
Stephanie Richards (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) added seven kills.Â
Lexie Curtis (Toledo, Ohio/Bedford H.S.) served up seven aces, a school record for a three-set match, while handing out 16 assists. Lourdes registered 12 total aces in the match.

Michi Jimenez (Vega Vaja, P.R./Juan Quirindongo Morell H.S.) tallied a match-high 10 digs for the Gray Wolves.Â

"We served well and had a pretty solid team effort overall," head coach
Greg Reitz stated after the match. "Wins on the road in the conference are always tough. We have another tough one on the road on Friday and we have to be ready to play."

Michigan-Dearborn (0-15, 0-6 WHAC) tallied just 16 kills for the match and was led defensively by Colby DeMare, who tallied eight digs.

Lourdes (9-6, 5-1) will continue its three-match road trip on Friday evening, traveling to Lima, Ohio to face Northwestern Ohio. Opening serve from Racer Gymnasium is set for 7 p.m.
