Box Score Having won nine of its last 11 matches prior to Friday evening, Lourdes saw its streak come to an at Racer Gymnasium in Lima, Ohio as the Gray Wolves fell 25-23, 25-23, 25-18 to Northwestern Ohio.

Lourdes hit just .019 on the evening, committing 11 attack errors in both of the first two sets which proved to be the difference.

"Thirty hitting errors on the night marked our downfall," head coach
Greg Reitz stated after the match. "It's hard to win with that many mistakes. They cost us at big times late in sets."

The Gray Wolves held an early 11-7 lead in the opening set before the Racers went on a 10-1 run to take the lead for good. Lourdes battled back to within 24-23 only to a Northwestern Ohio kill end the stanza. There were 12 ties and seven lead changes in the second. The Gray Wolves led most of the way until late when a 5-1 Racer spurt put the hosts on top 20-19 and Lourdes was never able to retake the edge. An 8-3 run by Northwestern Ohio midway through the third set allowed the Racers to pull away and complete the sweep.

Erin O'Neil (Midland, Mich./Dow H.S.) led Lourdes with nine kills while hitting .294 as
Lexie Curtis (Toledo, Ohio/Bedford H.S.) handed out 15 assists and
Mallory Lenhart (Lambertville, Mich./Bedford H.S.) registered 14 helpers.Â
Michi Jimenez (Vega Baja, P.R./Juan Quirindongo Morell H.S.) added 12 digs for the Gray Wolves defensively.

Chanel Cantore led Northwestern Ohio (11-6, 5-1 WHAC) with 10 kills and 12 digs while the Racers hit just .168 for the night.

Lourdes (9-7, 5-2) will conclude its three-match road trip on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face Cornerstone. Opening serve from Mol Arena is slated for 1 p.m.
