Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: The road portion of the 2015 regular season comes to a close for Lourdes on Wednesday afternoon as the Gray Wolves travel to Lawrence Tech. Lourdes begins its final homestand of the season on Saturday, as the Gray Wolves entertain Marygrove as part of Homecoming weekend on campus.
Head Coach Jackie Donovan: In her first season on the Lourdes bench,
Jackie Donovan has a 6-6-1 (.500) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as overall as a head coach. She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: As has been a common theme for the Gray Wolves this season, Lourdes has never faced Lawrence Tech or Marygrove in women's soccer.
Wrapping Up Last Week: The Gray Wolves managed just two shot attempts on Wednesday afternoon as the Gray Wolves suffered a 2-0 loss on the road at second-ranked Northwestern Ohio.
Erika Brinkman made 11 saves in the setback for Lourdes. The Gray Wolves rebounded on Saturday afternoon with a 1-0 shutout victory at Concordia (Mich.). Brinkman made seven stops in the shutout while
Jessica Grindle found the back of the net for the match-winning tally.
Scouting Lawrence Tech: The Blue Devils have dropped four straight contests following a 2-0 loss at home against Madonna on Saturday afternoon. Lisa Zaffina leads Lawrence Tech having scored six goals and tallied 13 total points this season. Alexandra Bryden has added three goals and a team-high two assists for eight points while Claire Huddas also has three goals. Heather Derstine has logged all but 45 minutes in goal for the Blue Devils, posting a 2.07 goals against average and an .802 save percentage.
Scouting Marygrove: The Mustangs are still looking for their first victory of the season after suffering a 14-0 loss at Davenport on Saturday afternoon. Allison McDowell leads Marygrove having scored two goals and added two assists for a team-high six points. Sara Ruch also has added two assists while Raven Buck and Brandy Lynch each has scored a goal. Henrietta Addo has played every minute in goal, sporting an 8.44 goals against average and a .591 save percentage.
The Postseason Race: Lourdes enters the second to last week of the regular season in sixth place in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference standings, with the top eight teams qualifying for postseason. Lourdes holds a three-point edge over both Davenport and Cornerstone, the two teams tied for the final playoff spot. The Gray Wolves are also just three points behind fourth place Madonna, which holds the final spot to host a quarterfinal contest.
Grindle Quickly Becoming a Goal Scorer: Jessica Grindle went the first 10 matches of the season scoreless, but has now tallied a goal in two of the last three Gray Wolf contests. The redshirt-junior became just the fourth Gray Wolf in program history to score a goal, tallying her first marker at Lourdes with 2:34 remaining against Indiana Tech on Oct. 10. Last Saturday at Concordia (Mich.), she registered her first match-winner, scoring 5:56 into the second half to give the Gray Wolves the win. With five points on the season, Grindle is tied with
Kendyl Christian and
Remy Houttekier for second on the team in total scoring.
Lots of Shutouts: Lourdes has played a total of 13 matches this season, and 11 of them have resulted in a shutout for one team or the other. Only Lourdes' victory at Purdue Calumet (3-1) and loss at Saint Francis (Ind.) in overtime (2-1) have seen both teams find the back of the net. The Gray Wolves have also played one scoreless draw, the program opener at Rochester (Mich.).
Blundell Earns First Point: Tara Blundell earned her point at Lourdes last Saturday afternoon, drawing an assist on
Jessica Grindle's match-winning goal. Blundell became the seventh different Gray Wolf to register a point this season, and sixth different player to hand out an assist.
Pencil Her in Goal: Erika Brinkman has played every minute between the posts for the Gray Wolves this season. She sports a 1.26 goals against average, an .827 save percentage, and has notched six shutouts during her 1213:39 as the Gray Wolves' goalkeeper.
Lots of Different Combinations: Fourteen of the 17 players that have seen the field for Lourdes this season have earned at least three starting assignments. Only six players have drawn a start in all 13 contests, and only 11 players have appeared in every match.
Among the Nation's Leaders: As a team, Lourdes ranks 30th in the country with six shutouts.
Jada Foster's four match-winning goals are 18th most in NAIA.
Erika Brinkman ranks 38th in the nation with 81 total saves.

Rachel Chavez and
Gaby Torres have yet to attempt a shot ... the Gray Wolves and their opponents have each been whistled for 75 fouls ... only two of Lourdes 11 goals have been unassisted ...the Gray Wolves are averaging 11.8 shots per match.
