Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes University opens its inaugural season of women's soccer on Wednesday afternoon when the Gray Wolves travel to Pontiac, Mich. to face Rochester.  The Gray Wolves will continue their opening road trip on Saturday, heading to Fort Wayne, Ind. to face Saint Francis.  As the season begins, women's soccer will become the 15th intercollegiate sport to compete at the university.

Head Coach Jackie Donovan: In her first season on the Lourdes bench, Jackie Donovan has a 0-0 (.000) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as overall as a head coach.  She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: As will be a common theme for the Gray Wolves this season, Lourdes has never faced Rochester (Mich.) or Saint Francis (Ind.) in women's soccer.

Scouting Rochester (Mich.): The Warriors picked up their first victory in five tries on Thursday afternoon with a 4-1 triumph at Holy Cross (Ind.).  Rochester also battled Shanwee State to a scoreless draw earlier this season.  Breanna Bianchi leads the Warriors with two goals while Taylor Bunyak has added a goal and an assist for three points.  In goal, Barbara Bronco-Lazarini has played a majority of the minutes, sporting a 2.33 goals against average and a .731 save percentage.

Scouting Saint Francis (Ind.): The Cougars have opened the year with wins over Saint Xavier (2-0) and Aquinas (4-1).  Heather Jones has tallied two goals and an assist for a team-leading five points on two goals and an assist.  Kristin Strout has also scored twice for Saint Francis this year.  In goal, Ashley Reed has played every minute thus far, sporting a 0.50 goals against average and a .875 save percentage.

Captains Named: Senior Erika Brinkman and junior Remy Houttekier will serve as the team's inaugural captains during the 2015 season.

A Mixture on the Roster: Lourdes has 20 players on its inaugural roster, consisting of a mixture of freshmen and transfers.   The Gray Wolves have eight freshmen on this year's squad, two redshirt-juniors, eight true juniors, and two seniors.

Around the WHAC: With Lourdes adding women's soccer this season, 11 schools in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference sponsor the sport.  Michigan-Dearborn is the lone school without women's soccer in the league.  The league features the NAIA preseason number two team in the nation, Northwestern Ohio, the defending national runner-up.

This and That: Lourdes will make its home debut next Saturday, Sept. 12, when the Gray Wolves entertain Bluffton at Wildcat Stadium ... the initial roster for 2015 contains three goalkeepers, five defenders, six midfielders, and six forwards.
