Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes looks to carry the momentum from the first victory in program history into this week as the Gray Wolves gear up for a pair of non-conference contests. Lourdes travels to Purdue Calumet on Tuesday night before returning home to entertain Taylor on Saturday evening.
Head Coach Jackie Donovan: In her first season on the Lourdes bench,
Jackie Donovan has a 1-1-1 (.500) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as overall as a head coach. She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: As will be a common theme for the Gray Wolves this season, Lourdes has never faced Purdue Calumet or Taylor in women's soccer.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Having had a full week off prior to Saturday night's match, Lourdes picked up its first victory in program history with a 1-0 triumph over Bluffton at Wildcat Stadium.Â
Jada Foster scored with just under 20 minutes remaining in the match while
Erika Brinkman made three saves in goal to record her second shutout of the season.
Scouting Purdue Calumet: The Peregrines enter Tuesday's match following a 1-1 draw with Mount Mercy last Tuesday. Purdue Calumet's lone victory this year came against another WHAC opponent, Marygrove, 9-1. Rachel Gregory and Shayna Coy led the Peregrines with six points each this season. Gregory has a team-leading three goals while Coy has tallied two goals and added a team-best two assists. In goal, Kelley Sharp and Lucie Ashmore have split time. Sharp has posted a 2.54 goals against average and a .500 save percentage while Ashmore sports a 3.25 GAA and a .636 save mark.
Scouting Taylor: The Trojans are coming off of back-to-back double overtime decisions against WHAC foes. Taylor drew 1-1 at Aquinas last Wednesday before defeating Indiana Tech 2-1 on Friday night. The Trojans face IPFW on Friday night before visiting Lourdes. Nikki Zaino leads Taylor in scoring with nine points on the year, having tallied three goals and three assists. Shelbi Lowe has added eight points on three goals and two helpers. Between the posts, Anna Miller has logged a majority of the minutes, and carries a 1.63 goals against average and a .714 save percentage into the week.
Two Shutouts in Three Outings: Erika Brinkman has recorded a pair of clean sheets in goal in the team's first three matches. Besides Saturday's 1-0 win over Bluffton, Brinkman also kept Rochester (Mich.) off of the scoreboard in a scoreless double overtime draw in the season opener.
Foster the Lone Goal Scorer: Jada Foster has been the lone goal scorer in program history thus far. She tallied her first goal of the year at Saint Francis (Ind.) and added her first match-winner on Saturday against Bluffton. The freshman leads the Gray Wolves in shot attempts as well with 19, 10 of which have been on goal.
First Half Chances: Lourdes has outshot its opponents 26-9 in the opening stanza, including 15-4 on goal through the first three matches of the season. Last Saturday, the Gray Wolves held an 11-1 shooting edge at the break, including 6-0 on goal, yet the match was still scoreless. Despite the big shooting advantage, Lourdes has yet to find the back of the goal in the opening 45 minutes this year.
Defensive Battles: Through Lourdes first three matches of the season, there have been a combined four goals scored, with three of them coming in the same match (a 2-1 Saint Francis victory). The Gray Wolves have tallied just two goals while also limiting the opposition to just two tallies as well.
Brinkman Faces Her Old School: Erika Brinkman will face her old school on Tuesday at Purdue Calumet. The senior spent last season with the Peregrines where she posted a 3.61 goals against average and a .686 save percentage. Thus far this year Brinkman owns a 0.58 GAA and an .867 save mark.

This and That: Remy Houttekier registered the first assist in program history, feeding
Jada Foster for the match winner on Saturday ... Lourdes has earned and conceded 15 corner kicks each on the year ... the Taylor match will begin a stretch in which Lourdes will play three of four matches at home before taking to the road for five of its next six.
