Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: Lourdes looks to clinch the WHAC regular season title on Wednesday evening when the Gray Wolves travel to Cornerstone. The Gray Wolves head to the Boneyard Brawl this weekend, where they will play four matches in two days, including two against NAIA top-25 foes.
Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his seventh season on the Lourdes bench,
Greg Reitz has a 138-90 (.605) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. In his eighth season overall as a women's head coach, Reitz has a 157-125 (.557) career mark. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history and was named WHAC Coach of the Year in 2015.
Series Notes: Lourdes holds a 5-4 all-time advantage over Cornerstone since Oct. 8, 2011 after sweeping the Golden Eagles on Sept. 21, but the Golden Eagles have won the only two matches in Grand Rapids, Mich.. Lourdes is 1-1 against Columbia (Mo.) in a series that began Dec. 2, 2015 after defeating the Cougars on the road Sept. 2. Taylor won the only previous meeting against Lourdes, a four-set decision, on Aug. 22, 2014 in Rio Grande, Ohio. Campbellsville won the only previous meeting against Lourdes, a 3-0 decision on Oct. 1, 2010 in Fort Wayne, Ind. Georgetown (Ky.) holds a 2-0 edge against the Gray Wolves in a series that began Sept. 6, 2013, with both meetings coming at Georgetown.
Earlier This Season: Lourdes hit .364 on Sept. 21 and defeated Cornerstone 25-13, 25-22, 25-17 at the Ebeid Rec Center.Â
Stephanie Ruffing had 13 kills and 12 digs to lead Lourdes while Heather Green tallied 14 kills to pace the Golden Eagles.Â
Molly Shonk had 14 kills and 11 digs on Sept. 2 as Lourdes downed then number one Columbia (Mo.) 33-31, 25-23, 25-19 in Columbia, Mo. Â
Wrapping Up Last Week: Ave Stout hit .833 as Lourdes swept Concordia (Mich.) 25-14, 25-15, 25-12 on Wednesday. Friday the Gray Wolves hit .423 as a team in a 25-13, 25-11, 25-10 win over Michigan-Dearborn. Saturday Lourdes topped Madonna 25-22, 25-22, 21-25, 25-18 despite dropping a set at home for the first time this season.
Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles have won 16 straight matches after sweeping Lawrence Tech on Saturday. Heather Green leads Cornerstone with 378 kills while Hope Leppink has 1,184 assists. Mackenzie Vallad has tallied 547 digs while Kendra Zwart has 171 blocks.
Scouting Columbia (Mo.): The Cougars enter the week following a 3-0 victory over Vangard on Saturday and face Hannibal-LaGrange Wednesday before facing Lourdes. Peiyi Liu leads Columbia with 396 kills is hitting .424, and has 242 digs. Sashiko Heredia has 988 assists and Zori Curry has 60 blocks.
Scouting Taylor: The Trojans had their three-match winning streak snapped with a five-set loss at Mount Vernon Nazarene on Friday. Kelly Arnold and Becca Gerig each have 318 kills and Haley Harrell has 941 assists. Alex Reel has tallied 511 digs and Addy Bailey paces the team with 84 blocks.
Scouting Campbellsville: The Tigers have won two straight after sweeping Bryan (Tenn.) on Saturday. Annija Abolina leads Campbellsville with 398 kills while Inoa Fields has 1,045 assists. Jessie Pendleton has tallied 598 digs and Julia Fonseca has a team-high 62 blocks.
Scouting Georgetown (Ky.): The Tigers have won five straight matches after sweeping Pikeville last Tuesday. Jenny Howell leads Georgetown with 361 kills while Sarah Bell has 881 assists. Courtney Grafton has registered 431 digs and Ashle Howe has 106 blocks this season.
WHAC Win Streak Continues: Lourdes has won 37 consecutive regular season conference matches, a streak that began Nov. 5, 2014 with a four-set triumph at Indiana Tech. Beginning Sept. 2, 2015 at Marygrove, the Gray Wolves have also won 39 straight contests overall against WHAC foes including the conference tournament.
Looking to Go Back-to-Back: With a win at Cornerstone on Wednesday, Lourdes would clinch the WHAC West Division title, the WHAC regular season title, and would host the WHAC tournament semifinals and championship for the second straight year.
Among the Nation's Best: Lourdes ranks 11th in all of NAIA handing out 12.39 assists per set. The Gray Wolves are also 12th in hitting percentage (.257) and 15th in kills per set (13.43). The Gray Wolves are also 22nd tallying 1.96 aces per set. Individually,
