Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: The 2016 soccer season comes to a close on Saturday for Lourdes as the Gray Wolves head to Ann Arbor, Mich. to battle Concordia (Mich.). The Gray Wolves are looking for their first road victory of the year while trying to snap a four-match losing skid.
Head Coach Jackie Donovan: In her second season on the Lourdes bench,
Jackie Donovan has an 11-20-2 (.364) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as overall as a head coach. She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes leads the all-time series with Concordia (Mich.) 1-0 after scoring a 1-0 victory on Oct. 17, 2015 in Ann Arbor, Mich.Â
Jessica Grindle scored the match-winner for the Gray Wolves early in the second half while
Erika Brinkman made seven saves to earn the shutout.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Cornerstone tallied an own goal late in the first half and added two more tallies during the final 45 minutes, the last coming with just 30 seconds remaining as the Golden Eagles defeated Lourdes 3-0 on Tuesday night.Â
Kiley Transit made six saves in goal for the Gray Wolves. Saturday, Lawrence Tech scored three times in a 13-minute span early in the first half as the Blue Devils shut out Lourdes 3-0.Â
Klarissa Wegner made six saves without surrendering a goal in relief for Lourdes in the loss.
Scouting Concordia (Mich.): The Cardinals have dropped three of their last four matches after suffering a 1-0 setback at Madonna on Saturday. Concordia hosts Marygrove on Wednesday before closing the regular season against Lourdes. Sydney Rouse is Concordia's scoring leader, having found the back of the net five times while tallying 13 total points. Heather Ernke has 11 points, having scored four times and added three assists. Rouse, Ernke, Nina Palushaj, and Martha Mullet all share the team lead with three helpers. In goal, Maria Lulgjuraj has played every minute this year, sporting a 1.33 goals against average and a .798 save percentage.
A Chance to Move Up: Despite having already been eliminated from the possibility of making the WHAC tournament, the Gray Wolves can still move up one spot in the league standings into a tie for ninth place. Lourdes would need to be Concordia and have Indiana Tech fall to both Madonna (Wednesday) and Davenport (Saturday) for forge the deadlock.
Closing Out Their Careers: Lourdes has five seniors, all of whom were honored earlier this year, playing in their final collegiate contest on Saturday.Â

A Record-Setting Year: As a team Lourdes has bettered some of the scoring marks set last year. The Gray Wolves have scored 23 goals, eight more than the 2015 record, while handing out 11 assists, two more than the previous mark. The 57 total points are 18 more than the Gray Wolves registered one season ago. In addition, Lourdes just broke the school's shots mark, having registered 196, eight more than in 2015. Â
Individual Records: Though this is just year two of women's soccer at Lourdes, the Gray Wolves have continued to rewrite the record books in 2016.Â
Clare Ciarlino has broken
Jada Foster's 2015 mark for points in a season by one, having recorded 15 thus far this year. In addition, Ciarlino and
Tori Koontz have tied
Remy Houttekier's school mark with three assists this year.
Career Leaders: Jada Foster holds the school marks for goals and points at Lourdes. The sophomore has scored eight times and has 17 total points in her two seasons with the Gray Wolves.Â
Kiley Transit is 11 saves shy of the school's career mark.
Scoring Lull: After scoring 20 goals in the first eight matches of the season, Lourdes has managed to score just three times over the last seven contests, with all three tallies coming in the victory over Marygrove.
Scoring First the Key: In all three of the Gray Wolves' victories this season, as well as the one draw, Lourdes found the back of the net first in the match. Lourdes has yet to rally for a result in the nine matches that the opposition tallied the first goal.
Mixing Up the Lineup: Lourdes has had 18 different players draw at least one starting assignment already this season. In fact, only
Kiley Transit,
Halee Roberts,
Tori Koontz, and
Karlie O'Keefe have been on the pitch to begin all 13 matches. In addition, only a total of six players have stepped onto the field in all 15 contests.
Captains Named: Remy Houttekier,
Tara Blundell,
Kendyl Christian, and
Hayley Wagner are serving as the team's captains for the 2016 season. Houttekier is in her second season serving in the leadership role while Blundell, Christian, and Wagner are in year one.
This and That: Lourdes has never won an overtime contest in program history, going 0-4-2 when playing more than 90 minutes ... 10 different Gray Wolves have scored at least one goal this season and 13 different players have registered at least one point ... Lourdes is still looking for its first victory away from home in 2016.
