Complete PDF Notes
#9 Lourdes (23-5, 15-1 WHAC West)
Match #29: Wednesday, November 2, 7 p.m. EDT
at Davenport (14-14, 8-7 WHAC West)
DU Student Center - Grand Rapids, Mich.

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball:  The 2016 regular season comes to a close for Lourdes on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves seek at least a share of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference regular season title.  Ninth-ranked Lourdes heads to Davenport to close out WHAC play.

Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his seventh season on the Lourdes bench, Greg Reitz has a 141-92 (.605) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  In his eighth season overall as a women's head coach, Reitz has a 160-127 (.557) career mark.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history and was named WHAC Coach of the Year in 2015.

Series Notes: Davenport holds an 8-4 all-time advantage over Lourdes since Sept. 2, 2011.  The Gray Wolves have won three straight matches against the Panthers, though, including a 3-0 sweep at the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center back on Oct. 5.  Davenport is 3-1 against Lourdes in Grand Rapids, Mich., but the Gray Wolves notched a four-set win on the Panthers' home floor in 2015, the last trip they made to Davenport.

Earlier This Season: Lourdes limited Davenport to .057 hitting on Oct. 5 on the way to a 25-20, 25-20, 25-17 victory over the Panthers at the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.  Molly Shonk tallied a double-double with 17 kills and 15 digs while Meghan Birr handed out 40 assists.  Angelica Dippold had a match-high 19 digs in the win.  Krissy Dill led the Panthers with 10 kills and 11 digs in the loss while Sami White also had a double-double with 12 assists and 13 digs.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes had its 37-match regular season WHAC winning streak snapped on Wednesday as the Gray Wolves fell 21-25, 25-23, 26-24, 25-22 at Cornerstone.  Ave Stout led Lourdes hitting .457 with 18 kills.  The Gray Wolves dropped back-to-back matches for the first time this season with a 25-13, 19-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-12 setback to #25 Columbia (Mo.) on Friday to open the Boneyard Brawl.  Molly Shonk had 13 kills and 18 digs in the setback.  Lourdes rebounded Friday night with a 25-12, 25-21, 25-21 win over Taylor.  Shonk had 14 kills and 17 digs to pace the Gray Wolves.  A 25-15, 19-25, 25-19, 25-17 win against Campbellsville began Saturday's play at the Boneyard Brawl.  Shonk registered 14 kills and 13 digs.  The weekend concluded with a 23-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-13 victory over host, #8 Georgetown (Ky.).  Meghan Birr handed out 40 assists and had 13 digs.

Scouting Davenport: The Panthers have alternated wins and losses for their last nine matches and enter the week following a sweep of Concordia (Mich.) at home on Friday.  Krissy Dill leads Davenport with 370 kills and 34 service aces while Ashley VanderHorst is hitting .258 and has 78 blocks.  Sydney Tracer has a team-high 532 assists and Kasey Stehouwer has registered 451 digs.

Looking to Go Back-to-Back: With a win at Davenport on Wednesday, Lourdes would clinch at least a share of the WHAC West Division title, and the WHAC regular season title for the second straight year.

Double the Fun: As a team Lourdes players registered 12 double-doubles in the five matches last week after having recorded just 24 total in the previous 23 contests.  Molly Shonk had a double-double in all five matches (kills and digs), and now has six consecutive overall and 14 total on the year.  Meghan Birr had four double-doubles on the week, all assists and digs, giving her six this season, while Stephanie Ruffing had a pair of kill and dig double-doubles, bringing her season total to eight.  Lexie Curtis also had her first double-double of the year with 12 assists and 12 digs against Columbia (Mo.).

Stout Leads the WHAC in Hitting: Ave Stout leads the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference in hitting percentage, swinging at a .367 clip this year.  She holds a .023 lead over Madonna's Amanda Hawkins.  Ironically, Stout also hit .367 in 2015, a mark that is the school's single season record.

Closing in on the Blocks Record: Ave Stout is just eight blocks shy of Lourdes' single season total blocks record.  The senior currently is fourth with 86 rejections, one behind Stef Comte's 2015 total and two behind her own 2015 total.  Andrea Brown holds the school record with 94 set in 2012.

Digging Balls Up: Lourdes had 101 digs in the win at Georgetown (Ky.), setting a school single match record for a four-set match.  The total was two digs shy of the overall school record of 103 set in a five-set contest against Madonna in 2014.  Individually, Angelica Dippold tied the school record for a four-set match with 31 digs against the Tigers.  She matched Hannah Thompson's 2011 total against Concordia (Mich.) and Michi Jimenez's 2014 mark against Aquinas.

WHAC Win Streak Ends: With the loss to Cornerstone last Wednesday, Lourdes had its 37-match regular season conference match win streak snapped, a streak that began Nov. 5, 2014.  Beginning Sept. 2, 2015 at Marygrove, the Gray Wolves had also won 39 straight contests overall against WHAC foes including the conference tournament prior to the loss to the Golden Eagles.

Among the Nation's Best: Lourdes ranks 19th in all of NAIA handing out 12.31 assists per set.  The Gray Wolves are also 19th in kills per set (13.36) and 21st in hitting percentage (.238).  The Gray Wolves are also 34th tallying 1.79 aces per set.  Individually, Ave Stout ranks 12th nationally hitting .367 while Meghan Birr ranks 21st in the country dishing out 10.36 assists per stanza.  Birr's 995 total assists are 34th most.  Lexie Curtis is 47th registering 0.44 aces per set.

This and That: The Gray Wolves' match against Columbia (Mo.) was the team's first five-set contest this year ... Lourdes has already played eight nationally ranked teams this season (5-3) ... the Gray Wolves are already assured a first round bye in the WHAC tournament which begins on Saturday, and will either play in the quarterfinals on Nov. 9 or host the semifinals and championship Nov. 11-12.
