Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: Having won nine of its last 10 matches overall, Lourdes looks to remain undefeated in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves host Cornerstone in a match featuring the two top teams in the West Division.

Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his seventh season on the Lourdes bench, Greg Reitz has a 128-90 (.587) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  In his eighth season overall as a women's head coach, Reitz has a 148-125 (.542) career mark.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history and was named WHAC Coach of the Year in 2015.

Series Notes: Lourdes and Cornerstone have split each of the previous eight meetings 4-4, but the Gray Wolves have won the last three contests in the series.  Last year the Gray Wolves swept the season series, winning 3-0 at home in a match played at Owens CC before downing the Golden Eagles 3-1 in Lima, Ohio.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes hit .385 led by Stef Comte's 12 kills and .611 hitting percentage and defeated Concordia (Mich.) 25-17, 25-16, 25-18 on Wednesday evening.  Friday night Ave Stout hit .692 with 18 kills on 26 swings without an error as the Gray Wolves rallied from dropping the opening set to defeat Lawrence Tech 24-26, 25-22, 25-10, 25-18.  The week concluded on Saturday with a 25-7, 25-17, 25-11 victory at Marygrove behind 12 kills from Comte and 11 more along with a .688 hitting percentage by Stout.

Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles have won four straight matches overall and remain undefeated in WHAC play after defeating Indiana Tech 19-25, 29-27, 28-26, 32-20 on the road Saturday afternoon.  Heather Green leads Cornerstone with 209 kills while Hope Leppink has handed out 573 assists.  Mackenzie Vallad is the team leader with 274 digs while Kendra Zwart has blocked 89 shots.

Home Sweet Home: After playing six seasons and 74 "home" matches at Tam-o-Shanter, Springfield HS, Southview HS, Owens CC, and the University of Toledo, Lourdes finally played its first matches on campus last week.  The Gray Wolves started 2-0 after going 53-21 in its previous "home" contests.

Stout on a Roll: Ave Stout was nearly perfect last week, tallying 33 kills on 50 swings for a .660 hitting percentage.  The Gray Wolf middle blocker did not have an error on the week.  She registered 18 kills and hit .692 at Lawrence Tech and had 11 kills while hitting .688 at Marygrove.  Stout's stellar play goes back two weeks to the start of WHAC play, as she has committed just one attack error in her last five matches.  She has 50 kills on 81 swings and is hitting .605 in conference action.

Comte Also Strong in the Middle: Stef Comte is proving to make a strong middle duo with Ave Stout.  Comte hit .543 in the trio of matches last week, recording 28 kills during the span.  The senior had 12 kills at both Concordia (Mich.) and Marygrove, while hitting .611 and .526 respectively in the two matches.

WHAC Win Streak Continues: Lourdes has won 28 consecutive regular season conference matches, a streak that began Nov. 5, 2014 with a four-set triumph at Indiana Tech.  Beginning Sept. 2, 2015 at Marygrove, the Gray Wolves have also won 30 straight contests overall against WHAC foes including the conference tournament.

Shonk and Birr Tally Double-Doubles: Molly Shonk and Meghan Birr both registered double-doubles last Friday at Lawrence Tech.  Shonk had 10 kills and 20 digs for her third of the season while Birr handed out 43 assists to go along with 10 digs for her first of the year.  Shonk now has 19 career double-doubles at Lourdes while Birr's marked her seventh in her two years with the Gray Wolves.

Murrell Solid Defensively: Kristin Murrell turned in her best defensive match of the season at Marygrove on Saturday.  The sophomore registered 12 digs, her first double figure dig match since transferring to Lourdes prior to the season.

Among the Nation's Best: Lourdes ranks eighth in all of NAIA hitting .263 as a team this season while the Gray Wolves are ninth averaging 13.48 kills per set.  Lourdes is also 14th nationally handing out 12.3 assists per stanza.  Individually, Ave Stout ranks eighth in the NAIA hitting .395 on the year while Meghan Birr's 10.16 assists per set rank her 23rd in the country.

Nearly All the Career Records: Current Lourdes players own all of the career records in school history with the exception of the digs mark.  Stephanie Richards leads in kills (984) and attack attempts (2,813) while Ave Stout leads in attack percentage (.375).  Meghan Birr is the assists (1,815) record-holder and Stef Comte holds the blocks (269) mark.  Lexie Curtis' 136 service aces also mark a Lourdes career record.

Two Divisions: The WHAC has moved to two divisions in 2016 with Lourdes joining Aquinas, Concordia (Mich.), Cornerstone, Davenport, and Siena Heights in the West Division.  Teams will play everyone in their own division twice, once at home and once on the road.  Schools will play the opposite division once, facing three opponents at home and three on the road.

This and That: Lourdes will play four of its next five matches at home in the new Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center where the Gray Wolves are 2-0 this season ... the Gray Wolves are 10-0 when hitting a better percentage than their opponents and 0-3 when being outhit ... Lourdes has not played a five-set match since Oct. 17, 2015, a win against Madonna ... the Gray Wolves' No. 11 national ranking is the highest in program history.
