Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: Lourdes will open the home portion of the 2017 season on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves entertain Indiana-South Bend. Lourdes then heads to the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational over the weekend, battling Saint Francis (Ill.) and Indiana-Kokomo on Friday before facing Taylor and the host Wildcats on Saturday.
Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his eighth season on the Lourdes bench,
Greg Reitz has a 148-95 (.609) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. In his ninth season overall as a women's head coach, Reitz has a 168-130 (.564) career mark. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history and was named WHAC Coach of the Year in 2015.
Series Notes: Indiana-South Bend won the only previous meeting against Lourdes, a 3-1 decision, on Aug. 25, 2012 in Dearborn, Mich. Saint Francis (Ill.) is 4-0 all-time against Lourdes in a series dating back to Sept. 4, 2010, with all four wins coming via sweeps. The last meeting between the two came on Aug. 30, 2014 in Palos Heights, Ill. Lourdes won the only previous meeting against Indiana-Kokomo in four sets last Saturday in Winona Lake, Ind. Lourdes and Taylor have split two previous meetings dating back to Aug. 22, 2014. The Gray Wolves won the last contest on Oct. 28, 2016 in straight sets in Georgetown, Ky. Lourdes and Indiana Wesleyan have never met on the court.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes dropped its season opener to tournament host Grace on Friday in four sets before rebounding to defeat Silver Lake in at the Lancer Classic. The Gray Wolves added a sweep against Cincinnati Christian and a four-set win over Indiana-Kokomo on Saturday to conclude the event.
Scouting Indiana-South Bend: The Titans have won two straight matches after defeating Williams Baptist and Spring Arbor on Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Earlybird. Sarah Allison leads the Titans hitting .338 with 66 kills while Jadalyn Tindall has handed out 99 assists. Janelle Rehlander has tallied 99 digs while Ashley McClintock has a team-high 10 blocks.
Scouting Saint Francis (Ill.): The Saints have dropped three straight matches after setbacks against Midland and Marian last Saturday at the Trinity Christian Crossover. JoAnna Nowicki leads the team with 37 kills while Darian Baldwin has registered 64 assists. Leah Alles has registered 60 digs while Brooklyn Withey has tallied nine blocks.
Scouting Indiana-Kokomo: The Cougars dropped back-to-back matches to Northwestern Ohio and Lourdes last Saturday at the Lancer Classic. Lindi Thomas leads the team with 96 kills while Nyssa Baker is hitting .245 with a team-high 48 blocks. Maddison Taylor has registered 118 digs while Casey Colgate has handed out 180 assists.
Scouting Taylor: The Trojans have won three straight matches after downing Talladega and Jamestown at the Montreat Tournament last Saturday. Taylor travels to Grace on Wednesday before heading to Indiana Wesleyan. Becca Gerig leads the team with 45 kills and is hitting .378 while Haley Harrell has handed out 71 assists. Jamie Scherb has tallied a team-high 44 digs while Addy Bailey has recorded 10 blocks.
Scouting Indiana Wesleyan: The Wildcats have been idle since Aug. 19 when they defeated Cumberland and fell at Lindsey Wilson, but host Spring Arbor before the weekend tournament. Tay Thomas leads the team with 52 kills while Emily Workman has 73 assists. Abigail Rutt has a team-high 93 digs while Lauren Gross has tallied 12 blocks.
Lourdes in Home Openers: Lourdes is 6-1 all-time in home openers. The only defeat for the Gray Wolves to open a home campaign came in 2012, a 3-0 setback to 17th-ranked Madonna. Last year Lourdes downed Siena Heights in straight sets to open the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center. Â
Home Sweet Home: Lourdes has yet to drop a match inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center. The Gray Wolves posted a perfect 11-0 record in home matches last season, losing just one set. Lourdes has won 27 consecutive home contests, last falling on its home floor against Northwestern Ohio in five sets on Nov. 1, 2014 at Tam-o-Shanter.
Sharing Playing Time: At the opening Lancer Classic, a total of 16 different players saw the floor, including 11 Gray Wolves who made their first appearance in a Lourdes uniform. Only

Kristin Murrell appeared in all 14 sets on opening weekend.
Nearing 150: Lourdes enters the week just two wins shy of 150 in the program's eight year history. The Gray Wolves enter the Indiana-South Bend match with a 148-95 all-time mark.
