Men's Soccer Travels to UNOH, Hosts Cornerstone During Homecoming Week

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes wraps up a three-game road trip this week as it travels to Lima to take on UNOH on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The Gray Wolves will return home on Saturday afternoon and celebrate Homecoming week as it welcomes Cornerstone to Wildcat Stadium and plays the second contest of a double-header with the Lourdes women's soccer team at 3 p.m.

Head Coach Barry Spitzer: In his fourth season on the Lourdes bench, Barry Spitzer has a 20-33-5 (.388) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as a men's soccer collegiate head coach at four-year programs.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: The Gray Wolves enter the matchup with UNOH looking for their first victory against the Racers. UNOH leads the all-time series by a 3-0 margin. In each of the first two contests between the two schools, UNOH was ranked nationally in the top-10. The Racers have outscored Lourdes 11-1 all-time in the series. The Gray Wolves trail the all-time series with Cornerstone by a 2-1 margin. Before falling to the Golden Eagles 1-0 in the 2016 and 2017 campaigns, Lourdes kicked off the series with a 3-0 shutout over Cornerstone in 2015.
    
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes will be looking to regroup after posting an 0-2 record a week ago. The Gray Wolves fell 3-1 at Cleary before dropping a hard-fought 2-1 decision at Aquinas. Sophomore Jose Esteves Silveira picked up his first collegiate goal at Cleary, while Savio Adams scored the goal against Aquinas.

Scouting UNOH: UNOH enters the contest atop the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference standings, while receiving votes in the national poll. The Racers put an eight-game win streak on the line against Lourdes. UNOH has outscored its opponents 25-5 during its current winning streak. Felipe Lupion and Shea Mannings currently pace the Racers with five goals each, which is tied for the fifth best mark in the WHAC. Three athletes lead the team with three assists each. In the net, Mark McMillan leads the way for the Racers with an 8-2-2 mark, 18 saves, a 1.10 GAA and a .581 save percentage. 

Scouting Cornerstone: Cornerstone enters the week after falling 2-0 at the hands of league-leader UNOH. The Golden Eagles are winners of three of their last five contests entering the week. Offensively, James Pipe leads the team with three goals and three assists for a total of nine points. In total, eight different players have netted goals for Cornerstone entering the week. In the goal, Joshua Mitchell and Zion Abts have split time. Mitchell leads the team with 32 saves and three shutouts, while Abts boasts a team-best 1.21 GAA and a .750 save percentage.

Close Calls: Through 10 games this season, six of the Gray Wolves contests have been decided by one goal or less, while eight contests have been decided by two goals or less. 

Success On The Road: Both of the Gray Wolves victories this season have been road matches. Lourdes is still searching for its first victory at home this season.

First Career Goal: Sophomore Jose Esteves Silveira tallied his first career goal in Lourdes contest at Cleary last week. This is the second straight week a Gray Wolf has scored their first collegiate goal.

Offense Picking Up: After struggling to find the back of the net for the first few games of the season, Lourdes has saw an uptick offensively as it has scored in each of its last three contests. The Gray Wolves have two multi-goal matches this season.

Experience On The Pitch: Riley Hogan ranks third all-time on the school's all-time matches played list with 42 appearances for the Gray Wolves. He is also third in school history with 35 career starts. 

In the Record Book: Reece Riccardi is tied for fourth in Lourdes history with his seven career goals. He also ranks sixth all-time with 16 career points. Chuk Moses is currently tied for eighth on the all-time assists list with four. Ali Chokr's 45 saves this season is currently the third best mark in program history in a single season. Ali Chokr also ranks second all-time at Lourdes for career saves.

Captain: Reece Riccardi will serve as the Gray Wolves lone captain for the 2018 season. This will mark his first season in a leadership role for the Gray Wolves.

This And That: The Gray Wolves have only been shutout once this season, with the contest ending in a 0-0 draw ... Ali Chokr is on pace to own both the single season saves record and the career saves record.
