Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes University opens its fourth season of men's soccer on Tuesday evening as the Gray Wolves travel to Centerville, Ind. to battle Indiana East. The match is the first of five non-league contests to begin the year.
Head Coach Barry Spitzer: In his fourth season on the Lourdes bench,
Barry Spitzer has an 18-26-4 (.417) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as a men's soccer collegiate head coach at four-year programs. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes and Indiana East are meeting on the pitch for the second time in program history on Tuesday, and for the first time in Centerville, Ind. Last year the Gray Wolves and Red Wolves battled to a 1-1 draw at Wildcat Stadium.Â

Wrapping Up 2017: Lourdes finished the 2017 season with a 5-10-1 record overall. The Gray Wolves finished in 10th place in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference with a 3-8 mark. Lourdes did not qualify for the WHAC tournament.
Scouting Indiana East: The Red Wolves opened their season on Saturday evening with a 1-0 victory on the road at Shawnee State. Denis Herrera scored the match-winning goal for Indiana East in the 62nd minute. Aaron Gipson went the distance in goal for the Red Wolves, making five saves on his way to the clean sheet. Indiana East posted a 9-9-2 record in the program's inaugural season one year ago. The Red Wolves finished 3-5-1 in the River Stats Conference, tying for sixth place in the regular season. Indiana East advanced to the RSC tournament semifinals before falling to Midway.
Lourdes in Season Openers: Lourdes is unbeaten in season openers during the program's first three seasons, posting a 2-0-1 record in match one. Last year the Gray Wolves battled Indiana East to a 1-1 double-overtime draw. In Lourdes only previous season opener on the road, the Gray Wolves scored a 3-2 overtime victory at Grace Bible to begin the 2015 season, the first in program history.
2017 Award Winners: Heading into the new season, the Gray Wolves will look to replace
Judah Goodridge, the first Second Team All Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference selection in program history. A senior last season, Goodridge led Lourdes with 11 goals and two assists for 24 points. He also tallied two of the team's five match-winning goals. Goodridge was also named to the WHAC Champions of Character Team while
Brett Chasnick and
Riley Hogan were WHAC All-Academic Team selections.
Top Returning Scorers: Reece Riccardi is the top returning scorer from the 2017 roster. A junior this season, he found the back of the net five times as a sophomore while also handing out a pair of assists for 12 total points. He enters this season with seven career goals.Â
Risaiah Osborne and
Tyler Rogers each have three career tallies entering the year.
A New Look in Goal: Lourdes will begin the year with a new starting goalkeeper after
Jose Cedillo graduated last season. Cedillo played all 1486 minutes during the 2017 season. A trio of freshmen,
Garrett Baxley,
Ali Chokr, and
Jorge Mendoza are all vying for playing time heading into the new year.
Experience Returning: Riley Hogan enters his senior season fourth on the school's all-time matches played list with 33 appearances for the Gray Wolves. He also ranks seventh in school history with 26 career starts.Â
Chuk Moses and
Reece Riccardi enter the season opener having seen action in 29 career contests, and are tied for 10th on the school's all-time charts.
In the Record Book: Reece Riccardi is tied for fourth in Lourdes history with his seven career goals. He also ranks sixth all-time with 16 career points.Â
Orlando Gomez and
Chuk Moses enter the season tied for eighth on the all-time assists list with four each.
Lots New Faces: Of the 30 players on this year's roster, Lourdes has 20 newcomers, 16 of whom are freshmen.Â
Savio Adams,
Farouk Amoo,
Osbaldo Senderos, and
Brendon Long all transferred to Lourdes prior to the start of the season. In addition,
Nitram Senderos will be making his first appearance on the pitch this year for the Gray Wolves after sitting out the 2017 season.
Non-Conference Success: Throughout the first three seasons, Lourdes has played well during non-conference action. The Gray Wolves are 9-5-1 all-time in non-conference tilts, including a perfect 5-0 mark to begin the 2016 campaign.
Captain: Reece Riccardi will serve as the Gray Wolves lone captain for the 2018 season. This will mark his first season in a leadership role for the Gray Wolves.
This and That: Lourdes is 10-14-1 all-time in road matches ... the Gray Wolves have never played a neutral site match in program history ... 40 different players have stepped onto the pitch for the Gray Wolves in the program's first three seasons.
