Men's Soccer Begins Three-Game Road Trip With Battle At Saint Francis (Ill.)

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes will look to end a two-game skid this week as it travels to Joliet, Ill. to take on Saint Francis at 2 p.m.

Head Coach Barry Spitzer: In his fourth season on the Lourdes bench, Barry Spitzer has an 19-28-4 (.412) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as a men's soccer collegiate head coach at four-year programs.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Wednesday's matchup at Saint Francis will be the first time the two schools have met.

Wrapping Up Last Week: The Gray Wolves opened the home-portion of their schedule with back-to-back contests gainst Bethel and Goshen last week. Lourdes fell to Bethel 3-0, before dropping a 6-1 decision to Goshen on Saturday evening at Wildcat Stadium. Senior Savio Adams scored the lone goal of the week for Lourdes.

Scouting Saint Francis: The Fighting Saints enter the contest looking to avoid a fourth straight loss. After defeating Taylor 3-2 in its season-opener, Saint Francis was on the short end of losses to Mount Mercy, Lincoln and Goshen. The Fighting Saints are led offensively by  junior Reuel Erastus-Obilo's three goals through the teams first four games. Erastus-Obilo and three other Saints have each tallied an assist each to lead the team. Defensively, sophomore Carlos Ferrer Coto has seen the bulk of the time in the goal, competing in three contests and recording 17 saves, while junior Noah Jawdat has appeared in one game with three saves.

Scouting Lourdes: Offensively, the Gray Wolves have scored two goals through three games. Junior Savio Adams and freshman Osbaldo Senderos have each tallied a goal each for Lourdes. Freshman Andrew DeBrosse has the teams lone assist. Defensively, freshmen Garrett Baxley and Ali Chokr have found their way in the goal, as each has appeared in all three contests for Lourdes this season. Baxley and Chokr each have nine saves defensively.

Lourdes On The Road: The Gray Wolves have compiled an 11-14-1 record on the road during its four years as a program. In its only road contest of the 2018 season, Lourdes picked up a 1-0 shutout victory over Indiana East. The Gray Wolves will look to remain perfect on the road in 2018 when it travels to Saint Francis.

Finding Its Way Offensively: Despite winning its first contest of the season, the Gray Wolves are still looking for answers offensively, mustering two goals through the teams first three contests. Lourdes has been outscored by a 9-2 margin to begin the season. The Gray Wolves will look to Reece Riccardi, the teams top returning scorer from a season ago, to provide a much needed boost to the Gray Wolf offense as it travels to Saint Francis this week.

Top Returning Scorers: Reece Riccardi is the top returning scorer from the 2017 roster. A junior this season, he found the back of the net five times as a sophomore while also handing out a pair of assists for 12 total points.  He enters this season with seven career goals.  Risaiah Osborne and Tyler Rogers each have three career tallies entering the year.

A New Look in Goal: After losing Jose Cedillo to graduation, Lourdes has found its way in the form of Garrett Baxley and Ali Chokr as the duo has split time in the goal in each of the teams first three contests. 

Experience On The Pitch: Riley Hogan ranks fourth all-time on the school's all-time matches played list with 36 appearances for the Gray Wolves.  He is also tied for fourth in school history with 29 career starts. Brett Chasnick is tied for seventh all-time at Lourdes with 26 appearances, while Reece Riccardi also ranks in the top-10 with 31 career appearances.

In the Record Book: Reece Riccardi is tied for fourth in Lourdes history with his seven career goals. He also ranks sixth all-time with 16 career points. Chuk Moses is currently tied for eighth on the all-time assists list with four.

Lots Of New Faces: Of the 30 players on this year's roster, Lourdes has 20 newcomers, 16 of whom are freshmen. Garrett Baxley, Ali Chokr, Jared Poslaiko, Cameron Poslaiko, Maxim Van der Auwera, Danny Gonzalez, Cameron Poslaiko, Nick Kekich, Andrew DeBrosse, N'Faly Diallo, Abraham Rosales, Osbaldo Senderos, Olawole Ogunsanya, and Abraham Estaba have all made their freshman collegiate debuts in Lourdes' first three contests of 2018.

Non-Conference Success: Throughout the first four seasons, Lourdes has played well during non-conference action. The Gray Wolves are 10-7-1 all-time in non-conference tilts.

Captain: Reece Riccardi will serve as the Gray Wolves lone captain for the 2018 season. This will mark his first season in a leadership role for the Gray Wolves.
