Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: Lourdes wraps up a three-match homestand on Wednesday evening, as the Gray Wolves travel to Southfield, Mich. for a battle with first place Lawrence Tech. Lourdes will return home on Friday evening as Siena Heights visits the Ebeid Rec Center for the annual Dig Pink match.
Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his 10th season on the Lourdes bench,
Greg Reitz has a 194-128 (.602) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. In his 11th season overall as a women's head coach, Reitz has a 214-164 (.566) career mark. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history and was named WHAC Coach of the Year in 2015.
Series Notes: Lourdes leads the all-time series with Lawrence Tech 15-2 dating back to Sept. 17, 2011. The Blue Devils won the first meeting of the season on Sept. 18 in straight sets inside the Ebeid Rec Center. The Gray Wolves hold a 6-1 series edge all-time in Southfield, Mich. Lourdes holds a 13-8 series advantage against Siena Heights dating back to Sept. 10, 2010. The Gray Wolves won the first meeting of the season 3-0 in Adrian, Mich. on Sept. 27. Lourdes is 3-0 all-time against the Saints inside the Ebeid Rec Center and 7-2 all-time in home matches.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Indiana Tech defeated Lourdes 25-18, 25-21, 25-20 on Wednesday evening in the Ebeid Rec Center.
Kylee McBride led Lourdes with 12 kills while
Alli Plasencio tallied 17 digs. The Gray Wolves snapped their four-match losing skid on Friday with a 25-10, 25-17, 25-13 triumph at Michigan-Dearborn. McBride had 12 kills and
Angelica Dippold tallied 12 digs in the win. Lourdes closed the weekend with a 25-23, 25-16, 20-25, 25-12 win at Concordia (Mich.) on Saturday.
Kennedy Ames put down 19 kills and Plasencio tallied 33 digs.
Scouting Lawrence Tech: The Blue Devils have won five straight matches after sweeping Concordia (Mich.) on Friday in Ann Arbor to maintain a two-game lead in the WHAC standings. Zakia Hunt leads Lawrence Tech with 258 kills and is hitting .366 while Kristi Doherty has handed out 751 assists. Doherty also leads the Blue Devils with 57 service aces. Defensively, Shelby Rasch has a team-high 342 digs while Hunt has 56 blocks, including 11 solos.
Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints enter the week having defeated Rochester (Mich.) in four sets on Saturday. Siena Heights travels to Michigan-Dearborn on Wednesday before visiting Lourdes. Janel Ruhlman leads the Saints with 225 kills and is hitting .218. Carrigan Gray has handed out 527 assists while Alli Conly has registered a team-leading 25 service aces. On defense, Karsyn Wolf has tallied 266 digs while Victoria Nerkowski has recorded a team-high 58 blocks.
Pair Register Career Highs: Kennedy Ames and
Michaela Eisenhauer both posted career highs on Saturday as both registered their first double figure kill totals as Gray Wolves. Ames had a match-high 19 kills while Eisenhauer added 13 kills while hitting .423.
Lots of Digs: Lourdes set a new school record with 121 digs as a team against Concordia (Mich.) on Saturday. The previous mark was 104 digs at Indiana-South Bend on Oct. 20, 2018. Five different players had double figure digs, led by
Alli Plasencio's 33 and
Angelica Dippold's 28 digs.
Setters Notch Double-Doubles: Megan Vayansky and
Annika Devendorf both recorded double-doubles against Concordia (Mich.). Vayansky had her third of the year with 23 assists and 17 digs while Devendorf notched her second double-double with 19 assists and 11 digs.
Moving into the Top-10: Alli Plasencio has moved past Alyssa Pelish (2012-2013) and Ali Mass (2010-2013) into ninth place on the Gray Wolves' career digs list. The sophomore has 520 career digs, and is just 16 shy of
Kristin Murrell's (2016-2018) eighth place total of 536 digs.
A Bunched WHAC Standings: With seven matches remaining in the regular season, Lourdes is currently in a tie for sixth place in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. The top four teams will host the quarterfinal round of the WHAC tournament. Lourdes is currently just one game in back of fifth place, and two games back of third in a tightly bunched league race.
Dippold Moves Into Third All-Time in Aces: Angelica Dippold continues to move up the career list in service aces. The senior has moved past Hannah Thompson (2010-2011) and
Stephanie Richards (2013-2016) and into third place all-time at Lourdes with 84 service aces. She is 20 aces behind
Stef Comte (2013-2016) for second place.
Assis Moving Up Setter's List: Yasmin leads the Gray Wolves with 365 assists this year. Her total already ranks her ninth on the Lourdes career chart.
This and That: Lourdes ranks 40th in the NAIA tallying 17.97 digs per set ... the Gray Wolves are also 45th in NAIA averaging 11.62 assists per set ... Kylie McBride and
Alli Plasencio are the only Gray Wolves to appear in all 63 sets this season.
