Lourdes began its 2019-2020 season on Friday afternoon, tying for fifth place at the Trine Fall Kick-off Classic held at Zollner Golf Club in Angola, Ind.

The Gray Wolves fired a team total of 373, matching the score of Rio Grande. Lourdes was just seven strokes behind fourth place Cleary. Grace won the tournament after posting a score of 312, 13 shots ahead of runner-up Olivet.

Lourdes team score was 15 shots better than their total in the same event to open the 2018-2019 season.

"Overall it was a good team effort to start the season," head coach
Gil Guerrero said following the round. "It gives us a good indication of the things that we need to work on in our quest to become even more competitive."

Jenne' Venier (Pemberville, Ohio/Eastwood H.S.) led the Gray Wolves with an 89 on the 5,963-yard, par-72 course.Â
Skyler Henry (Swartz Creek, Mich./Swartz Creek H.S.) carded a 91 to finish second among Lourdes golfers.

Baylee Van Brunt (Onstead, Mich./Onstead H.S.) added a round of 96 while
Lydia Quinn (Bloomington, Ind./South H.S.) added a 97 to complete the Gray Wolf scoring.

Kate Woodbury (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) fired a collegiate best round of 94 while playing as an individual while
Makenzie Fannin (Centerburg, Ohio/Centerburg H.S.) rounded out the lineup carding 100.

Trine's Lyndsey Welper was the tournament medalist after carding a 72, three shots better than Anna Marshall of Grace and Nicole Deweyert of Olivet.

Lourdes will return to the links next Saturday (Aug. 30), as the Gray Wolves travel to Harrod, Ohio for the first day of the two-day Ohio Northern Fall Invitational. Action begins on day one at 1 p.m. at Colonial Golfers Club.
