Megan Miller Named Lourdes Head Tennis Coach

Sylvania native Megan Miller has been named the new head men's and women's tennis coach at Lourdes University, athletics director Janet Eaton has announced.

Miller arrives at Lourdes from Coker University where she has served as the school's assistant tennis coach since June 2019.  During her stay with the Cobras, the men began last year with a 6-1 record while the women were 5-4 in seasons that were cut short due to COVID-19.

Miller assisted with nearly every aspect of the Coker program, coaching a player that earned the South Athletic Conference's Elite 20 Award for men's tennis for the highest grade point average in the conference.  In addition, she guided a CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-American and an Academic All-District honoree.  Ten men's players and four women were named to the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll for their efforts in the classroom.

"I am excited for Coach Miller to join our staff here at Lourdes", Eaton said.  "She gained a great deal of coaching experience while at Coker and is a great fit for our program.  As she returns to her hometown, she already has a great deal of knowledge to get started immediately preparing for the spring season."

Prior to Coker, Miller served as a women's assistant coach at Hillsdale College for one season.  The Chargers had three First Team All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference selections and a pair of Second Team All-GMAC honorees during her time with the program.  Hillsdale won the GMAC championship in 2018-2019 while she was on the sidelines.

Miller played collegiate tennis at both Bowling Green State University and the University of Toledo.  She began her career at Bowling Green where she played first singles and doubles for the Falcons as a freshman.  She earned Mid-American Conference Player of the Week honors and had the most wins on the team.  After transferring to Toledo prior to her sophomore season, Miller helped the Rockets advance to the MAC semifinals in 2018.

A native of Sylvania, Miller set school records during her prep career at Northview High School.

"I am thrilled and honored to become the head tennis coach at Lourdes University," Miller said.  "I would like to thank the athletics director, Janet Eaton, for this incredible opportunity, and I am very excited to start this new adventure with the Gray Wolves.  Consistent with the university's values and traditions, academics will be my number one priority, and I will continue to help each player grow as a person, as an athlete, and as a student.  I am determined to help develop each player individually based upon their playing styles and will be incorporating new team training sessions in order to take this program to new heights.  I cannot wait to get started with both teams!"

A 2018 graduate from Toledo with a bachelor's degree in psychology, Miller earned her master's degree in college athletic administration from Coker in 2020.
