MAUMEE, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) -- Competing in their final match of the season, the Lourdes University men's tennis team fell 7-0 to Lawrence Techn University on Thursday afternoon at Shadow Valley Tennis Club in Maumee, Ohio.
"It was a fitting finale to our experience in the WHAC as we look forward to a renewed journey in the Fall," said head coach Epifani Jones.
The Blue Devils secured the doubles point with wins at the top two spots. Joshua Parish and Alvaro Trillo-Sanchez dropped a 6-3 decision at No. 1 doubles, while Luis Guzman and Juan Vargas Mendoza fell 6-1 at No. 2. Lourdes was unable to field a team at No. 3 doubles, resulting in a forfeit.
In singles action, Parish battled through a tight match at No. 1 before falling 3-6, 6-4, 5-10 in the third set tiebreak. Guzman dropped a 6-3, 6-1 decision at No. 2, while Trillo-Sanchez was defeated 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3. Vargas Mendoza and Kaden Robertson both fell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively, and Lourdes forfeited the match at No. 6.
