LIVONIA, Mich. (LourdesAthletics.com) – The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced its 2025 men's tennis postseason awards this week, and Lourdes University was represented by three student-athletes for their accomplishments on and off the court.
Alvaro Trillo-Sanchez earned a spot on the Champions of Character team, which recognizes student-athletes who best exemplify the conference's five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
In addition to his Champions of Character recognition, Trillo-Sanchez was one of three Lourdes student-athletes named to the WHAC All-Academic Team, joined by Luis Guzman Candelario and Joshua Parish. To qualify for the All-Academic honor, student-athletes must be a junior or above in academic standing and maintain at least a 3.25 GPA.
The WHAC also announced its major award winners, highlighted by Lucas Perez (UNOH) as Player of the Year and Francisco Perez (UNOH) as Newcomer of the Year. Griffin Mertz of Lawrence Tech was named both Coach of the Year and the WHAC Champion of Character Coach for 2025.
