FORT WAYNE, Ind. (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University men's tennis team came up short in its match against the Warriors of Indiana Tech University, falling in a 6-1 decision inside the Wildwood Racquet Club.
The Gray Wolves were unable to secure the doubles point, as Joshua Parish and Luis Guzman put up a strong effort at No. 1 doubles before falling 6-4. Alvaro Trillo-Sanchez and Kaden Robertson dropped a 6-0 decision at No. 2 doubles, while Lourdes did not field a team at No. 3.
In singles action, Parish delivered a strong performance at the top of the lineup, earning a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 1. Guzman battled through a three-set match at No. 2, dropping the first set 3-6, rallying for a 6-4 win in the second, before ultimately falling 10-6 in the decisive third set. Trillo-Sanchez fought hard at No. 3 singles but fell 6-1, 6-3, while Robertson was defeated 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
"I think necessity truly is the mother of invention in that the men are being forced to discover new avenues of competing and the individual growth is exciting to foster," said head coach Epifani Jones.
