Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: Lourdes wraps up a four-match homestand on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves welcome Siena Heights to the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center. The Gray Wolves will head to Grand Rapids, Mich. this weekend to face Aquinas on Friday and Cornerstone on Saturday.
Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his 12th season on the Lourdes bench,
Greg Reitz has a 212-158 (.573) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. In his 14th season overall as a women's head coach, Reitz has a 232-193 (.546) career mark. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history and was named WHAC Coach of the Year in 2015.
Series Notes: Lourdes leads the all-time series against Siena Heights 14-11 dating back to Sept. 10, 2010. The Saints won the first meeting this season though, a straight sets decision on Sept. 15 in Adrian, Mich. The Gray Wolves hold a 4-1 series edge inside the Ebeid Rec Center. Aquinas is 12-8 against Lourdes in a series that began Oct. 7, 2011. The Saints have won three straight meetings between the two schools, including a 3-0 sweep earlier this season on Oct. 6 inside the Ebeid Rec Center. Aquinas holds a 5-3 advantage all-time in Grand Rapids, Mich. Cornerstone is 13-8 all-time against Lourdes in a series that dates back to Oct. 8, 2011. The Gray Wolves snapped a five-match losing streak in the series on Sept. 24 with a four-set victory inside the Ebeid Rec Center. The Golden Eagles are 7-0 all-time against Lourdes in Grand Rapids.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes knocked off then first place Indiana Tech on Wednesday evening 22-25, 25-12, 25-15, 25-18 at home.
Abby Gentile put down 20 kills while
Alli Plasencio had 30 digs. On Friday, Madonna swept the Gray Wolves 25-11, 25-20, 25-18. Kyle McBride paced Lourdes with seven kills while Plasencio had 18 digs. The Gray Wolves rebounded on Saturday with a 25-19, 25-10, 25-14 sweep of Michigan-Dearborn. Gentile had 15 kills and hit .652 while
McKenna Hall recorded 10 digs.
Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints had their four-match winning streak snapped on Saturday with a five-set loss at home against Madonna. Janel Ruhlman leads Siena Heights with 169 kills and is hitting .243 while Aubrey Bates has handed out 628 assists. Bates and Kadie Carsten lead the team with 27 service aces each. Defensively, Payton Osborne has a team-leading 320 digs while Olivia Norman has registered 61 blocks.
Scouting Aquinas: The Saints enter the week having won three straight matches after sweeping a pair of contests from Northwestern Ohio on Saturday. Aquinas travels to Cornerstone on Wednesday before hosting Lourdes. Jackie Rozell has a team-high 251 kills while Abbie Harpenau is hitting .263. Chloe Mitchell has a team-best 573 assists and Kenzi Dobosiewicz had 30 aces. Adrien Yondo leads Aquinas with 330 digs while Abbi Perkins has 111 blocks.
Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles enter the week following a five-set victory at Indiana Tech on Saturday. Cornerstone hosts Aquinas and Siena Heights on Wednesday and Friday respectively before entertaining the Gray Wolves. Olivia Keelean has a team-high 299 kills and is hitting .207 this season while Aubrey Lenz has handed out 765 assists. Rylie Walters leads the team with 42 service aces. On defense, Patsy Morris has tallied 396 digs while Kaylee Dykema has 106 blocks.
Schedule Update: Lourdes will make up its match at Rochester (Mich.), that was postponed on Oct. 6, in Rochester Hills, Mich. on Monday, Nov. 1.
Gentile Has Big Week: Abby Gentile put down a career-high 20 kills last Wednesday against Indiana Tech. She added 15 more kills without an error for a .652 hitting percentage on Saturday in the victory over Michigan-Dearborn. The freshman has seven double figure kill matches already this year.
Serving Up Aces: The Gray Wolves have recorded 129 service aces this season, while committing just 136 service errors. Lourdes had a season-high 12 aces in the win over Indiana Tech and added 11 more against Michigan-Dearborn. The Gray Wolves have had double digit aces totals five times this season, all victories. Individually,
Lydia Landoll leads Lourdes with 20 aces.
On the Block: Cammy Smith has been involved in 40 of the Gray Wolves' 102 blocks this season. She now has 119 for her career, sixth most in program history. She is five behind Stephanie Richards (2013-2016) for a spot in the top-five.
Michaela Eisenhauer is also on the career blocks chart, having rejected 113 opponent shots, seventh most all-time at Lourdes.
Plasencio All Over the Record Books: Alli Plasencio enters the week ranked third in program history with 1,351 career digs. She is 254 behind Angelica Dippold (2016-2019) for second all-time. Plasencio also is fourth on the career ace charts with 84, nine behind Dippold for third. Plasencio ranks fifth in school history having appeared in 346 sets all-time, 33 behind Lexie Curtis' (2013-2016) fourth place total. Plasencio is also seventh all-time at Lourdes having appeared in 95 career matches, seven fewer than Stephanie Richards (2013-2016) for sixth.
This and That: Alli Plasencio is the only Gray Wolf to play all 76 sets this season ... Lourdes will celebrate Senior Night on Oct. 27 against Lawrence Tech ... the Gray Wolves have not dropped a match (7-0) when outblocking their opponents this season.
