In goal, Hope Steenwyk has played a majority of the minutes, and has posted a 1.91 goals against average and a .694 save percentage.
In Search of Best Finish Ever: Entering the final week of the regular season in fifth place, Lourdes is on pace for its best WHAC finish in program history. The previous best finish for the Gray Wolf women's soccer program was a tie for sixth place in the inaugural 2015 campaign. Lourdes ended up as the seventh seed in that year's WHAC tournament.
First Winning Record Ever Secured: Lourdes has assured itself of finishing over .500 for the first time in program history. The Gray Wolves finished the season at .500 (8-8-2) in 2017, but have never concluded the year with a winning record prior to this season.
Mann Holds All School Scoring Marks: Abigail Mann has broken or tied all of the school's career scoring records this year. She set the Lourdes school record with 16 career goals as well as the points mark with 41. In addition, her nine career assists are tied with Tori Koontz (2016-2017) for the school record.
Kolodin Earns First Collegiate Point: Ellen Kolodin recorded her first point of her collegiate career last Wednesday at Northwestern Ohio. The freshman garnered an assist on
Alexis Gordon's first goal of the 2021 season.
Lots of Extra Soccer: Lourdes entered the 2021 season having played 16 overtime matches in the program's first six seasons. The Gray Wolves have already gone beyond regulation six times this year. The Gray Wolves should have played a seventh overtime contest as well, but the match against Huntington was called a draw after regulation due to thunderstorms. Lourdes is now 2-9-11 all-time when playing overtime in program history.
Stingy Defense: Lourdes has yielded just 14 goals in 1,541 minutes of action this season, a goals against average of 0.82. The Gray Wolves have six shutouts to their credit on the season, matching the school's single season record set in 2015 and equalled again in 2017. Lourdes is also looking to break the 2018 team's goals against average for a season, after finishing that year with a 1.52 GAA.
Surprising the Prognosticators: The Gray Wolves will finish 2021 well above their predicted finish in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches where Lourdes was tabbed to finish ninth. The Gray Wolves were picked just behind eighth place Indiana Tech. Aquinas was chosen to win the league crown.
Captains: Kerstyn Williams, and
Olivia Pomponio are serving as the team's co-captains in 2021. Both served in the leadership role in 2020 as well.
This and That: A total of 21 different Gray Wolves have started at least one match this season ... only
Abigail Mann and
Olivia Pomponio have started all 16 contests this year ... 13 different Lourdes players have registered at least one point with nine Gray Wolves finding the back of the net.
