Lourdes opened up its spring slate and Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Wednesday falling 7-0 to Lawrence Tech inside of the Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield, Mich.

"I am so proud of how the team played today," head coach
Megan Miller said following her Lourdes debut. "There were so many positive things that came out of both the singles and doubles matches today. Even with just a few short weeks of practice, the women still looked confident in executing their game plans."

Lawrence Tech (1-1, 1-0 WHAC) opened the match sweeping doubles. The Gray Wolves'
Niki Polce (New Boston, Mich./Huron H.S.) and
Vanessa Skouroukos (Toledo, Ohio/Waite H.S.) fell 6-0 at number one doubles while
Annsley Mann (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) and
Jordan Bucher (North Baltimore, Ohio/North Baltimore H.S.) dropped a 6-1 match at the second spot. The Blue Devils won third doubles by default.

In singles action, Bucher fell 6-2, 6-0 at fourth singles while Polce dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision at the third spot. Mann and Skouroukos both suffered 6-0, 6-0 setbacks at first and second singles respectively while Lawrence Tech won fifth and sixth singles by default.

"Being a small team can be hard sometimes, but all four players fought hard today and continued to support their teammates which was great to see," Miller concluded.

Lourdes (0-2, 0-1) will return to the courts on Saturday morning, traveling to Battle Creek, Mich. to face Olivet. First serve is set for 11 a.m. inside of Minges Athletic Club.
