MAUMEE, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) --Â The Lourdes University women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Lawrence Tech University on Thursday afternoon at Shadow Valley Tennis Club in Maumee, Ohio.
"The key performers have shown improvement against the toughest opponents,"Â said head coach Epifani Jones following the match.
In doubles play, the Gray Wolves were unable to claim a match win. Mallory Schardt and Olivia Schoppa fell 6-2 at the top spot, while Laura Ortiz and Luciana Merediz also dropped a 6-2 decision on court two. Vanessa Skouroukos and Tatum McQueary completed doubles play with a 6-0 setback at No. 3.
Schardt battled at No. 1 singles before ultimately falling in a tight match, 6-1, 2-6, 2-10. Schoppa also pushed her opponent at No. 2, falling 6-4, 1-6, 4-10. Ortiz suffered a 6-0, 6-2 defeat at No. 3, while Merediz dropped a 6-0, 6-0 match at the No. 4 position. Skouroukos fell 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5, and McQueary rounded out the lineup with a 6-0, 6-0 loss at No. 6 singles.
