UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University women's tennis team took the court on Friday afternoon at the Chagrin Valley Athletic Club, battling through a 7-0 non-conference loss. 

"Rebuilding seasons are always a challenge, but the momentum is building in meaningful ways," said head coach Epifani Jones. 

Doubles play saw Schardt and Schoppa put together a competitive performance before dropping a 6-4 decision. Ortiz and Mereiz fought throughout their match but came up short, 6-2, while Skouroukos and Richburg showed flashes of strong play in their 6-2 setback.

In singles action, Schardt kept her opponent on the move but ultimately fell 6-1, 6-1. Schoppa and Ortiz each challenged for games but came up short in straight sets. Mereiz and Skouroukos showed resilience but fell 6-0, 6-0, while Richburg continued to battle before dropping a 6-2, 6-0 contest.

Lourdes (record) looks to rebound quickly as the Gray Wolves return to action on Saturday, March 29, traveling to face John Carroll in University Heights, Ohio. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
