Playing their third match in a season-opening five-match road trip, Lourdes suffered a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference defeat at the hands of Indiana Tech on Monday afternoon at Wildwood Racquet Club in Fort Wayne, Ind.
"Everyone's confidence came back today compared to the last match which was great to see," head coach
Megan Miller said afterwards. "We were just a few deuce points away on every court from it being a much closer match."
The Gray Wolves managed just two games over the course of the day.
Annsley Mann (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) and
Jordan Bucher (North Baltimore, Ohio/North Baltimore H.S.) fell 6-1 at second doubles.
Indiana Tech (5-0, 1-0 WHAC) won three singles matches 6-0, 6-0 with
Niki Polce (New Boston, Mich./Huron H.S.) taking the only game at third singles in a 6-1, 6-0 setback.
"The women have come so far already and with each match they play they learn and develop new strategies," Miller added. "I am excited to see what they will bring to the table in our next match."
Lourdes (0-4, 0-2) will return to the courts on Saturday, heading to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face Aquinas. Action begins at 2 p.m. at MVP Sportsplex.
