Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes is playing its final tune-up before returning to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Friday afternoon as the Gray Wolves face Point Park indoors in Rossford, Ohio.
Head Coach Jackie Phillips: In her sixth season on the Lourdes bench,
Jackie Phillips has a 32-56-6 (.372) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as overall as a head coach. Â She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes holds a 2-0 all-time advantage against Point Park in a series that began Aug. 31, 2018. Â The Gray Wolves defeated the Pioneers 1-0 last season at home after posting an identical 1-0 triumph in Pittsburgh, Pa. in the first meeting.
Wrapping Up Last Time Out: Grace built a 3-0 lead by halftime on the way to a 7-1 victory over the Gray Wolves inside Total Sports on Feb. 12. Â
Emily Johnson scored the lone goal for the Gray Wolves in the 72nd minute. Â
Kerstyn Williams made six saves in goal for Lourdes.
Scouting Point Park: The Pioneers are playing their first match this spring after taking the pitch 11 times during the fall. Â Point Park last played on Nov. 14, a 2-0 non-conference victory at Oakland City. Â Taylor Goldstrohm leads Point Park with nine goals and 19 total points on the season while Kylee Bobak has a team-high nine assists. Â Athena Beck has added four goals and has 10 points on the year. Â In goal, Ella Serlin has played a majority of the minutes, logging a 1.44 goals against average and an .822 save percentage.
Johnson Nets First Collegiate Goal: Emily Johnson's goal against Grace was the first of her collegiate career. Â The sophomore has appeared in 13 matches over her first season and a half with the Gray Wolves. Â The marker came on her ninth career shot attempt, four of which have been on goal.
Spreading Out the Scoring: Lourdes has found the back of the net six times in its first seven matches with five different players scoring goals. Â Only
Katie Varney has two tallies for the Gray Wolves while
Chloe Shaffer,
Jayla Musselman,
Abigail Mann, and
Emily Johnson have one goal each. Â In addition, Shaffer and Musselman have an assist as well along with
Chloe Nofziger and
Gianna Salatino, as the Gray Wolves have seven different players with at least one point.
Williams Sets Career Shutout Mark: Kerstyn Williams recorded her first shutout of the season, and seventh of her career, against Holy Cross (Ind.) on Feb. 8 to set the school's all-time clean sheet record. Â She passed
Erika Brinkman (2015) who had six shutouts for the Gray Wolves. Â Williams had to save a penalty kick with one second remaining in the match to preserve the shutout against the Saints.
Williams Sets Another Mark: Kerstyn Williams added another school record to her resume against Grace, becoming the Gray Wolves' all-time leader with 263 career saves. Â She passed
Kiley Transit (2016-2018) who finished her career with 259 stops.
Nearing More School Records: Kerstyn Williams continues to move closer to several other school records in goal in addition to the shutout and saves records she just set. Â The senior goalkeeper ranks second in program history for matches played in goal (42), as well as minutes played in goal (3204:26). Â Williams' career save percentage of .790 and goals against average of 1.97 are currently program records as well.
In the Record Book: Katie Varney scored her team-leading second goal of the year against Holy Cross (Ind.) to tie
Abigail Mann for fifth on the Lourdes all-time scoring list. Â Varney and Mann both have seven career goals, one behind
Jada Foster (2015-2016) for fourth on the all-time charts. Â Mann is also fourth in school history with 20 career points while Varney is fifth with 18.
Playing Indoors: Lourdes is 1-1 indoors at Total Sports this season, having defeated Holy Cross (Ind.) while falling to Grace. Â The Gray Wolves are 3-1-1 all-time in an indoor environment, having played three times against Rochester (Mich.) indoors for the Warriors' home matches prior to this season.
Lots of Appearances: Maria Schmidt ranks second all-time at Lourdes with 52 starts wearing the terra cotta and black. Â She trails just
Karlie O'Keefe (2016-2019) who started 68 contests during her time with the Gray Wolves. Â Schmidt also is tied for fourth in all-time appearances with 53, matching
Lauren Poslaiko (2016-2019). Â
Erin Caldwell has passed
Kiley Transit's (2016-2018) fourth place mark of 37 starts. Â Caldwell's 38 starting assignments rank her just six behind Poslaiko for third place.
Conference Play Resuming: As the spring moves along, teams that played WHAC matches during the fall will resume league play while the other schools are opening up the conference campaigns. Â Lourdes will play six more WHAC matches this season, beginning on March 3 hosting Northwestern Ohio.

Olivia Pomponio are all serving as the team's co-captains for the spring season. Â Both are in their first season in the leadership role.
