Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: After playing five matches during the fall, Lourdes resumes its season on Monday morning as the Gray Wolves host Holy Cross (Ind.) in a non-conference match indoors at Total Sports in Rossford, Ohio.
Head Coach Jackie Phillips: In her sixth season on the Lourdes bench,
Jackie Phillips has a 31-55-6 (.370) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as overall as a head coach. Â She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes and Holy Cross (Ind.) are meeting on the pitch for the first time ever on Monday.
Wrapping Up Last Time Out: Lourdes jumped in front in the sixth minute with a goal by
Abigail Mann on Oct. 24, but Concordia (Mich.) scored twice in the final seven minutes, including the match-winner with one second to play, to down the Gray Wolves 2-1 in Ann Arbor, Mich. Â
Kerstyn Williams made eight saves in goal for the Gray Wolves in the loss.
Scouting Holy Cross (Ind.): The Saints are opening their season on Monday after posting a 9-8-1 mark in 2019, including a 6-5-1 record in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference action. Â Holy Cross returns 13 players from last year's squad. Â Olivia Shaw scored a team-leading 12 goals and finished the year with 27 points as a freshman to lead this year's returnees. Â Lauren Cernak added five goals and a team-high four assists last season. Â In goal, Chloe Kane returns after appearing in 16 contests in 2019, posting a 1.44 goals against average and a .707 save percentage.
A First Time for Everything: With the split season, this year will mark the first time the Gray Wolves have played countable matches in the spring. Â The latest in a season Lourdes had previously played was Nov. 6, 2019 for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament match.
Playing Indoors: Lourdes has not played a match indoors since Oct. 5, 2019 when the Gray Wolves defeated Rochester (Mich.) 4-0 inside of Ultimate Soccer in Pontiac, Mich. Â The Gray Wolves are 2-0-1 all-time in an indoor environment, all Rochester home matches in the same location.
Playing Clean: During five matches in the fall, the officials did not pull a single card from their pocket against either Lourdes or their opponents. Â In fact, the Gray Wolves were called for just 54 total fouls in their matches, an average of 10.8 per contest.
Shot Leaders: While Lourdes found the back of the net just twice during the fall, the Gray Wolves were nearly even with their opponents in shot attempts, trailing just 67-66. Â
Katie Varney,
Abigail Mann, and
Chloe Shaffer all led the way with eight shot attempts during the first portino of the season. Â A total of 17 different Gray Wolves have rifled at least one attempt toward net.
Nearing School Records: Kerstyn Williams continues to move closer to several school records in goal. Â The senior goalkeeper ranks second in program history for matches played in goal (40), minutes played in goal (3024:26), and saves (251). Â
Kiley Transit (2016-2018) holds all three of those records. Â Williams is tied for the school mark with Transit with six shutouts while her career save percentage of .799 and goals against average of 1.87 are program records.
In the Record Book: Abigail Mann and
Katie Varney, the two goal scorers for the Gray Wolves this fall, rank fifth and sixth respectively on the Lourdes all-time scoring list. Â Mann has seven career goals, one behind
Jada Foster (2015-2016) for fourth, while Varney has found the back of the net six times. Â Mann is also fourth in school history with 20 career points while Varney is sixth with 16, one behind Foster for fifth.
Lots of Appearances: Maria Schmidt ranks second all-time at Lourdes with 50 starts wearing the terra cotta and black. Â She trails just
Karlie O'Keefe (2016-2019) who started 68 contests during her time with the Gray Wolves. Â Schmidt also ranks fifth in all-time appearances with 51, two behind
Lauren Poslaiko (2016-2019) who is fourth having played in 53 contests. Â
Erin Caldwell has past
Tara Blundell (2015, 2017) for fifth all-time with 36 starts in her career. Â She is one start shy of matching
Kiley Transit's fourth place mark of 37 starts.

Captains: Kerstyn Williams,
Maddy Hodgson, and
Olivia Pomponio are all serving as the team's tri-captains in 2020. Â All three are in their first season in the leadership role.
A Different Look This Season: Due to COVID-19, Aquinas, Madonna, Michigan-Dearborn, and Northwestern Ohio opted to not play soccer this fall, moving all of their matches to the spring. Â The remaining seven league schools are playing a split season, with each contesting at least three league matches last fall. Â The WHAC tournament and NAIA National Championships will also take place this spring.
This and That: Lourdes played 23 different players during the fall portion of the season ... the Gray Wolves are 2-8-6 all-time in overtime matches ... the Gray Wolves are looking to snap a 12-match losing skid dating back to last season ... Lourdes has taken 29 corner kicks while yielding just 18 so far this year.
