Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes opens the home portion of the 2021 season on Tuesday evening as the Gray Wolves welcome Huntington to Wildcat Stadium.  The Gray Wolves return to the road on Saturday, heading to Bethel (Ind.) in the of the squad's final non-conference matches of the year.

Head Coach Jackie Phillips: In her seventh season on the Lourdes bench, Jackie Phillips has a 38-61-8 (.393) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as overall as a head coach.  She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes and Huntington have split two previous meetings in a series that dates back to Sept. 11, 2018.  Each school has won on the other's home pitch.  In the last outing in 2019, the Gray Wolves scored a 1-0 victory in Huntington, Ind.  Lourdes holds a 3-1-1 series edge against Bethel (Ind.) dating back to Sept. 7, 2016.  The Gray Wolves have won the last two meetings between the two schools, including a 4-0 triumph at Wildcat Stadium on March 10, 2021.  Bethel leads the series 1-0-1 in matches played in Mishawaka, Ind.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Erin Caldwell's goal with under nine minutes to play in regulation on Tuesday (Sept. 7) allowed Lourdes to draw even with Holy Cross (Ind.) on the road as the two sides played to a 1-1 double-overtime draw.  Emmy Rodger, who came on with 30 minutes remaining in regulation, made five saves in her 51 minutes of work.  On Saturday (Sept. 11), Brynn McGarvey scored late in the first half and Emily Johnson added a penalty kick early in the second stanza as the Gray Wolves downed Shawnee State 2-1 to conclude the road trip.  Rodger made five most stops between the posts for Lourdes in the win.

Scouting Huntington: The Foresters look to snap a two-match losing skid after falling in overtime 1-0 to Siena Heights on Saturday (Sept. 11) at home.  Ashtyn Patrick and Reagan Sanderson lead Huntington with two goals each with Patrick also handing out a pair of assists for a team-leading six points.  In goal, Aerni Ireland has played every minute for the Foresters, sporting a 0.57 goals against average and a .903 save percentage.

Scouting Bethel (Ind.): The Pilots enter the week still looking for their first victory of 2021 after dropping a 2-1 overtime decision at Indiana Tech on Saturday (Sept. 11).  Bethel plays at Anderson on Wednesday before hosting Lourdes.  Esther Karhayu, Olivia Lambdin, Audrey Lerch, Emma Martz, and Samantha Vaughn have each scored once this year for the Pilots while Marah Franke and Emily Smithberger have handed out assists.  Corryn Berlin has gone the distance in goal, posting a 2.32 goals against average and a .650 save percentage.

Lourdes at Home: Lourdes is 2-4 all-time in home openers.  The Gray Wolves have dropped four straight home openers after falling to Ohio Christian 1-0 in the first home match of the 2020 season.  All-time, Lourdes sports a 22-25-3 record at Wildcat Stadium through six seasons.

The Program's Best Start: For the first time in program history, Lourdes remains unbeaten through four matches (2-0-2), having earned at least a draw in each contest.  In 2019, Lourdes went 3-1 through four contests and the team went 2-0-1 in both 2015 and 2018 to start the year.

Sharing the Wealth: Lourdes has scored six times this season, with the goals coming from a different player each time.  Brynn McGarvey scored her first collegiate goal on Saturday (Sept. 11) at Shawnee State, while Abigail Mann, Erin Caldwell, Chloe Shaffer, Emily Johnson, and Chloe Nofziger have each found the back of the net as well this season.

Quite a Start in Goal: Emmy Rodger has made the most of her rookie season between the posts thus far for the Gray Wolves.  While leading the team with more than 237 minutes played in goal, the freshman sports a 0.38 goals against average and has made 15 saves, yielding just one goal thus far.

Battling from Behind: In both of Lourdes draws this season, the Gray Wolves fell behind in the first half, only to rally to tie the match, force overtime, and leave with a draw for a result.

Mann and Shaffer Continue Climb on Scoring Charts: Abigail Mann tallied her first goal of the season, and 11th of her career, in the season opener against Rio Grande.  She now has 11 goals, third most all-time at Lourdes.  She also moved into third place alone with 28 career points.  Chloe Shaffer tallied her first marker of the year against Point Park, giving her six for her career, seventh most in program history.  Shaffer is also seventh in school history with 16 career points.

A Record Holder in Net: Kerstyn Williams has already set all of the school's career goalkeeping records.  Williams has eight career shutouts, sports a .795 career save percentage and a 1.88 goals against average while making 306 saves in 52 matches between the posts.

Lots of Appearances:  Erin Caldwell has moved into fifth in program history with 55 career appearances.  Kerstyn Williams has tied with Lauren Poslaiko (2016-2019) for seventh all-time at Lourdes having stepped on to the pitch 53 times.

Captains: Kerstyn Williams, and Olivia Pomponio will serve as the team's co-captains in 2020.  Both served in the leadership role in 2020 as well.

This and That: Lourdes enters the week with a 38-61-8 all-time record ... the Gray Wolves have now played multiple overtime matches every season except 2020 ... Lourdes is 2-8-8 all-time in overtime ... the Gray Wolves have outshot all four opponents this season.
