Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: Lourdes opens Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves travel to Fort Wayne, Ind. to face Indiana Tech.  Lourdes will then step out of league play on Friday for a pair of matches at Indiana East, facing the host Red Wolves and Indiana Southeast.

Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his 12th season on the Lourdes bench, Greg Reitz has a 203-149 (.577) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  In his 14th season overall as a women's head coach, Reitz has a 223-184 (.548) career mark.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history and was named WHAC Coach of the Year in 2015.

Series Notes: Lourdes and Indiana Tech have split their previous 18 meetings 9-9 dating back to Oct. 1, 2010.  The Warriors have won the last four contests between the two schools, including a pair of matches this past spring.  Indiana Tech won in straight sets in Fort Wayne and in four sets inside the Ebeid Rec Center.  Indiana East holds a 4-0 series advantage against the Gray Wolves, dating back to the first meeting on Sept. 11, 2010.  The two schools have not met since 2012 when the Red Wolves won in straight sets in Richmond, Ind.  Lourdes won the only previous meeting against Indiana-Southeast, a four-set victory on Sept. 7, 2013 in a neutral site match played in Georgetown, Ky.

Wrapping Up Last Week (Or Two Weeks Ago): Lourdes opened the 2021 regular season on Aug. 27, dropping a 25-13, 25-18, 25-16 match at Saint Xavier.  Abby Gentile led the Gray Wolves with four kills while Alli Plasencio tallied 13 digs.  The Gray Wolves suffered a 25-17, 25-21, 25-21 setback to Judson on Aug. 28 despite eight kills from Kylee McBride while Plasencio recorded a team-high 17 digs.  Lourdes returned to the court later that afternoon at Trinity Christian, falling 18-25, 25-23, 25-11, 25-17 to the Trolls.  McBride put down 13 kills while Plasencio picked up 14 digs.

Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors snapped a four-match losing skid on Saturday (Sept. 4) afternoon, defeating Saint Francis (Ill.) in straight sets.  Noelle VanOort leads Indiana Tech with 85 kills and 10 aces while Havilyn Cummings is hitting .286.  Kelsey Schaldenbrand has handed out a team-high 184 assists.  Defensively, Jacey Blust has registered 14 digs while Madelyn Omo has a team-leading 19 blocks, including eight of the solo variety.

Scouting Indiana East: The Red Wolves have been idle since Aug. 28 when they dropped a pair of matches to Marian and Indiana Tech.  Teah Barrett Matthews leads Indiana East with 67 kills and is hitting .252 while Reece Shirley has handed out 80 assists.  Jenna Mitchell leads the squad with 15 service aces.    Defensively, Sammei Fulkerson-Bird has 130 digs on the season while Sheridan Phillips leads the team with 18 blocks.

Scouting Indiana-Southeast: The Grenadiers enter the week having been idle since Aug. 21 when they fell to Lindsey Wilson and defeated Bethel (Tenn.).  Indiana-Southeast hosts Campbellsville on Tuesday before facing the Gray Wolves.  Emilee Organ leads the team with 41 kills while Izzy Stallard is hitting .197.  Brandy Eisenback has handed out 62 matches already this year.  Santina Schembra leads the squad with six service aces.  Defensively, Schembra has a team-leading 58 digs while Jennie Malone has recorded 11 blocks.

Gray Wolves in WHAC Openers: Lourdes is 4-6 all-time in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference openers.  The Gray Wolves opened league play in 2020 (the spring of 2021) with a four-set loss at Cornerstone.  Lourdes is 1-6 in WHAC openers when beginning conference action on the road.  The Gray Wolves last won a conference opener in 2018, a four-set victory at home over Indiana Tech.

Becoming a Lengthy Road Trip: Due to the cancellation of the Gray Wolves' scheduled home opener on Saturday (Sept. 4), Lourdes will now play its first nine matches of the season away from the Ebeid Rec Center.  The new home opener will take place on Sept. 22 against Northwestern Ohio.

Plasencio Reaches 1,000 Digs: Alli Plasencio became just the third Gray Wolf in program to reach 1,000 career digs, accomplishing the feat on Aug. 28 against Judson.  The senior enters the week with 1,020 for her career.

Plasencio All Over the Record Books: Alli Plasencio enters the week ranked third in program history with 1,020 career digs.  She is 585 behind Angelica Dippold (2016-2019) for second all-time.  Plasencio also ranks eighth all-time with 70 service aces, needing six more to match Michi Jiminez (2012-2015) for seventh on the career charts.  Plasencio ranks seventh in school history having appeared in 280 sets all-time, 33 behind Ali Mass' (2010-2013) sixth place total.  Plasencio is eighth with 77 matches played, eight in back of Shannon Fischer (2015-2018) for seventh all-time at Lourdes.

Eisenhauer in the Record Books: Michaela Eisenhauer ranks seventh all-time at Lourdes with 101 career blocks, needing 10 more to match Genessee Tate (2016-2017) for sixth all-time.

Making Their Debuts: Ella Lewis, Abby Gentile, Katey Stakolich, Alexis Walker, Madison Smith, and Lydia Landoll all made their Lourdes debuts during opening weekend.

This and That: Lourdes' next WHAC victory will be its 100th in league play (99-63) ... Katey Stakolich and Alli Plasencio are the only Gray Wolves to play all 10 sets this season.
