WHAC Quarterfinal
Match #17: Wednesday, November 2, 7 p.m. EDT
at Lawrence Tech (6-4-6, 5-1-5 WHAC)
Blue Devils Stadium - Southfield, Mich.

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Postseason play has arrived for Lourdes University women's soccer.  The Gray Wolves enter the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament as the sixth seed and face third-seeded Lawrence Tech on the road in Wednesday evening's quarterfinal round.

Head Coach Jackie Phillips: In her eighth season on the Lourdes bench, Jackie Phillips has a 52-69-17 (.438) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as overall as a head coach.  She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lawrence Tech leads the all-time series against Lourdes 4-2-2 dating back to Oct. 21, 2015.  The two schools have played to scoreless draws in each of their last two meetings against one another, including this season's first meeting between the two squads in Southfield Mich. on Oct. 1.  The Blue Devils hold a 3-1-1 all-time series edge in matches played in Southfield.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes closed out the home slate on Wednesday evening with a 4-0 shutout victory against Cleary.  Chloe Shaffer scored twice, including the match-winner, while Keira Boskovich added a first half goal as well.  The Gray Wolves' final tally came courtesy of a Cougar own goal.  Emmy Rodger made three saves in goal while earning the clean sheet.  On Saturday, the Gray Wolves wrapped up the regular season with a 2-0 triumph at Michigan-Dearborn.  Shaffer again found the back of the net twice, both in the second half, while Rodger made six saves for the shutout.

Scouting Lawrence Tech: The Blue Devils enter the postseason on the heels of a 3-3 draw Saturday afternoon at home against Madonna.  Abigail Gray leads Lawrence Tech in scoring this season with five goals and four assists for 14 total points.  Maliea May and DiOnna Hill have each added four goals this season.  In goal, Gabi Nelson has played more than 1,100 minutes.  She sports a 2.04 goals against averaged and a .713 save percentage while notching a pair of shutouts between the posts.

Lourdes in the WHAC Tournament: The Gray Wolves are making their sixth appearance in the WHAC tournament still in search of their first victory.  Lourdes has qualified for the postseason event for the fourth consecutive year.  The Gray Wolves have never hosted a tournament match, with their highest tournament seed ever coming last year when they entered as a number five seed.

Looking to Set Program's Win Mark: With a victory over Lawrence Tech, not only would the Gray Wolves register their first tournament win, but would also set a new program single season record for triumphs.  The eight wins this season currently match the school mark set by the 2015 squad and equalled by the 2017, 2019, and 2021 teams.

Rodger Named WHAC Player of the Week: Emmy Rodger earned her second Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor after registering a pair of shutouts against Cleary and Michigan-Dearborn last week.  She made nine total saves in the two wins, and now has four career Player of the Week accolades.

Shaffer Sets Record for Goals: With four goals last week, Chloe Shaffer has become the program's all-time leading goal scorer with 17.  She passed teammate Abigail Mann, who has scored 16 goals during her four years with the Gray Wolves.  Shaffer is second in program history with 41 career points, four behind Mann's record of 45.

She's a Winner: Chloe Shaffer notched the match-winning goal in both victories last week to set a new school career records.  The senior now has seven match-winning goals, breaking the four-way tie for the previous record of five set by Karlie O'Keefe (2016-2019) and matched by current Gray Wolves Abigail Mann and Brynn McGarvey.

Playing a Lot of Matches: Erin Caldwell set the program record for appearances on Saturday at Michigan-Dearborn, stepping onto the pitch for the 70th time.  Erika Turk enters the tournament third all-time, one match shy of Karlie O'Keefe (2016-2019) for second on the all-time list.

More School Marks: Emmy Rodger recorded the 13th shutout of her career against Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday, extending the all-time mark she broke earlier this season.  Rodger's nine clean sheets this year set a new single season mark, surpassing the old record of six set by Erika Brinkman in 2015.

Rodger Third All-Time in Saves: Emmy Rodger's 127 career saves already rank her third on the school's career list, passing Erika Brinkman (2015).  Kiley Transit (2016-2018) is next on the list for Rodger to catch.  Transit finished her career with 259 stops.

More School Records: Abigail Mann holds the Lourdes career assist record with 13 helpers during her time wearing the terra cotta and black.  Mann also has attempted 172 shots during her time at Lourdes, 71 more than any other player in history.

Mixing Up the Lineup: Only Emmy Rodger, Chloe Shaffer, and Annah Zacerkowny have started all 16 matches this season for the Gray Wolves.  Karlie Heilman and Gianna Salatino have each drawn 15 starting assignments for Lourdes this year.

This and That:  Keira Boskovich scored her first collegiate goal against Cleary last Wednesday ... Emmy Rodger has a 0.69 goals against average, on pace to break her own single season mark of 0.98 from last year ... Paige Stooksberry made her collegiate debut versus Cleary.
