Final Results
Lourdes first victory of the season was a convincing one on Saturday afternoon, as the Gray Wolves posted a 7-0 shutout over Saint Francis (Ind.) inside at Shadow Valley.
"Today was a collaborative effort for the men," head coach
Epifani Jones said afterwards. "Each of them leaned into their respective roles and delivered what was necessary for our first win together."
The Gray Wolves opened winning the doubles point for the first time this season. With the Cougars defaulting third doubles, Lourdes needed just one victory to secure the first point of the match.
Ulises Barradas (Nueva Esparta, Venezuela/UE Colegio Madre Guadalupe) and
Victor Dieltiens (Altea, Spain/Sin Eduardus [Belguim]) notched a 7-5 victory at the top spot for their second win in as many days.
Dominick Brock (Grant, Mich./Grant H.S.) and
Alvaro Trillo-Sanchez (Madrid, Spain/Churchill County [Nev.] H.S.) dropped their second doubles contest 6-1.
In singles play, Dieltiens scored a 6-2, 6-2 win at the top of the lineup while Barradas was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at second singles.
Kareem Badr (Orlando, Fla./Montverde Academy) posted a 6-2, 6-2 triumph at third singles while Brock completed the sweep with a 6-3, 3-6, 10-6 victory in a match tie-break at fourth singles. Lourdes also won fifth and sixth singles by default.

Dominick Brock had an especially inspired win," Jones added. "He threw down the gauntlet against Wittenberg in the fall, and I knew this day would soon come. The pieces continue to fall into place, and it's an exciting time to be a Gray Wolf."
Lourdes (1-7) will return to the court on Friday for a pair of matches. The Gray Wolves will face Grace Christian in the morning at Grandville High School in Grandville, Mich. for an 11 a.m. contest before battling Cornerstone in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest at 5 p.m. at the Grand Rapids Racquet & Fitness Club in Grand Rapids, Mich.
