Final Results
Lourdes saw its Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference season come to a close on Friday as the Gray Wolves dropped a 4-0 decision to the University of Northwestern Ohio in the quarterfinals of the WHAC tournament held at Gainey Athletic Complex in Grand Rapids, Mich.
 
Northwestern Ohio (10-12), the tournament's third seed, opened play by sweeping the doubles point.  The Racers won third doubles by default.  The Lourdes tandem of 
Mallory Schardt (Temperance, Mich./Bedford H.S.) and 
Antonella Caro (Brampton, Ont./Holy Cross Catholic Academy) fell 6-0 at the top of the doubles lineup while 
Niki Polce (New Boston, Mich./Huron H.S.) and 
Jordan Bucher (North Baltimore, Ohio/North Baltimore H.S.) fell by the same score at the second spot.
 
The Racers added a point with a default victory at sixth singles before posting straight sets wins at second and fourth singles to clinch the match.  Caro dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision at the second spot while Bucher fell 6-0, 6-0 at number four.
 
In the abandoned matches, Schardt was trailing 6-1, 2-1 at the top spot while Polce was behind 6-2, 1-0 at the third spot.  
Winter Richburg (Toledo, Ohio/Rogers H.S.) was behind 6-0, 5-0 at the fifth spot.
 
Lourdes (1-6) will close out the 2021-2022 season on Saturday afternoon with a non-conference match against Grace Christian.  Action begins at 2 p.m. at Grandville High School in Grandville, Mich.
