Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: After a week off from competition, Lourdes wraps up the non-conference portion of its 2022 schedule on Saturday evening as the Gray Wolves travel to the Hoosier State for a match against Goshen. The Gray Wolves look to remain unbeaten on the year.
Head Coach Jackie Phillips: In her eighth season on the Lourdes bench,
Jackie Phillips has a 46-65-15 (.425) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as overall as a head coach. She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes dropped its only previous meeting against Goshen, 1-0, on Sept. 21, 2021 in a match that was played at Wildcat Stadium. The will mark the Gray Wolves' first trip to Goshen, Ind.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Annah Zacerkowny scored 2:07 into the second half on Wednesday (Sept. 7) allowing the Gray Wolves to pull even with Holy Cross (Ind.) on the way to a 1-1 draw at Wildcat Stadium.
Emmy Rodger made five saves in goal for Lourdes. On Saturday (Sept. 10),
Karlie Heilman scored the lone goal of the match, putting in a rebound late in the first half as Lourdes defeated Point Park 1-0 at home. Rodger had three stops on her way to earning the clean sheet.
Scouting Goshen: The Maple Leafs had their two-match winning streak snapped on Saturday (Sept. 10) afternoon, falling 2-0 at Madonna. Goshen hosts Olivet on Thursday before entertaining Lourdes on Saturday. Seja Lang and Madalyne Swallow lead Goshen offensively with three goals and six points. Anita Tavares also has six points on the year, including a team-high two assists, sharing the team lead with Amy Drew. In goal, Victoria Naylor has played a majority of the minutes, sporting a 1.80 goals against average and a .588 save percentage.
Facing the Crossroads League: Goshen is the lone Crossroads League team on the Gray Wolves' schedule this season, but Lourdes has regularly faced the conference in the past. The Gray Wolves own a 6-10-2 mark against members of the Crossroads League all-time. The majority of the success has come against Bethel (Ind.) with a 4-1-1 record, but the Gray Wolves also have a victory against Mount Vernon Nazarene and a win and a draw versus Huntington.
Another Clean Sheet: Emmy Rodger recorded her sixth shutout of her career against Point Park, moving her into a tie for second on the school's all-time charts with Erika Brinkman (2015). Rodger is two clean sheets away from matching the school record of eight shutouts set by
Kerstyn Williams (2017-2021).
Rodger Fourth in Saves: Emmy Rodger's 88 career saves already rank her fourth on the school's career list. She is just eight stops behind Erika Brinkman (2015) for third on the career charts.
Looking to Conclude Non-Conference Play Unbeaten: Lourdes has never entered Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play without a loss in program history. The Gray Wolves have a chance to do so this year, entering the Goshen match with a 2-0-2 record. Lourdes was 3-0-3 in 2021 heading into its final non-conference contest before falling to the Maple Leafs 1-0.
Heilman Anchoring the Defense: Karlie Heilman has been a mainstay on the back line for Lourdes this season. The junior added to the offense last week, scoring her first career match-winning goal against Point Park. The tally was the first points of Heilman's career.
Mann Holds Career Records: Senior
Abigail Mann already holds all of the school's career offensive records already. The senior has scored 16 career goals, two more than any other player in program history, and notched her 13th career assist last week against Holy Cross (Ind.), four more than the second place total. Mann's 45 career points are 11 in front of second place as well. She also holds the school mark with 167 shot attempts, the only Gray Wolf with more than 100 on the list. Mann's five match-winning goals are tied with Karlie O'Keefe (2016-2019) and current teammate
Chloe Shaffer for most in school history.
Moving Up the Scoring List: Brynn McGarvey scored her seventh career goal in the opener against Rio Grande, moving her into a tie with
Katie Varney (2019-2021) for seventh on the school's all-time goals list. McGarvey also has 15 points now, moving into eighth place on the all-time charts, two points behind Jada Foster (2015-2016) for seventh. The match-winner was the third of her career, moving into a tie with Clare Ciarlino (2016-2017) for sixth all-time.

Chloe Shaffer has handed out five career helpers, tied with Tara Blundell (2015, 2017) for fifth on the all-time charts at Lourdes.
That's a Lot of Action: Jules Snowden has now appeared in 60 matches during her career, fourth most in program history. She is one appearance behind Helena Rammal (2015-2018) for third on the school's all-time list. Snowden also ranks third in career starts with 56, five behind Maria Schmidt (2017-2020) for second.
Erin Caldwell is tied for fourth with 58 career appearances while her 51 starts rank fourth all-time.
Gray Wolves Tabbed Sixth in WHAC Preseason Poll: Lourdes was selected to finish in sixth place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches. The Gray Wolves were picked just behind fifth place Lawrence Tech. Aquinas was chosen to win the league crown.
This and That: Lourdes is outshooting its opponents 63-29 this season ... a total of 22 different Gray Wolves have stepped onto the pitch this year ... 16 different Lourdes players have at least one shot attempt ... the Gray Wolves have yielded just one corner in the second half while winning 14.
