Complete Notes
Lourdes (2-0-3, 0-0 WHAC)
Match #6: Saturday, September 24, 4 p.m. EDT
vs. Cornerstone (3-2-1, 0-0 WHAC)
Wildcat Stadium - Sylvania, Ohio

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play begins on Saturday afternoon for Lourdes.  The Gray Wolves have managed a result in all five matches thus far this season and host Cornerstone to begin the league slate.

Head Coach Jackie Phillips: In her eighth season on the Lourdes bench, Jackie Phillips has a 46-65-16 (.425) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as overall as a head coach.  She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Cornerstone holds a 6-0-1 series advantage against Lourdes dating back to Oct. 7, 2015.  The Gray Wolves managed their first result ever against the Golden Eagles in 2021, playing Cornerstone to a 1-1 draw in the regular season finale in Grand Rapids, Mich.  Cornerstone has won all three previous meetings between the two schools at Wildcat Stadium.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes and Goshen battled for 90 minutes last Saturday (Sept. 17) but neither side could find the back of the net in a scoreless draw.  The Gray Wolves held a 15-9 overall shot advantage.  Emmy Rodger needed to make just one save to earn the clean sheet.

Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles had their two-match winning streak snapped last Saturday (Sept. 17) as Cornerstone dropped a 3-2 match at Bethel (Ind.).  Amber Nicholson and Jozlyn VanTol lead the Golden Eagle offense with three goals and six points each.  Tori Woodwyk has handed out a team-high two assists.  In goal, Hope Steenwyk has played nearly every minute sporting a 1.21 goals against average and a .741 save percentage.

Lourdes in WHAC Openers: Lourdes is 3-4 all-time in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference openers.  The Gray Wolves snapped a three-match losing streak in league openers with a 1-0 victory at
Siena Heights to begin the 2021 WHAC slate.  Lourdes is 0-2 all-time when playing the league opener at home, having last begun a WHAC season at Wildcat Stadium in 2020.

Another Clean Sheet: Emmy Rodger recorded her seventh shutout of her career against Goshen, moving her into second place alone on the school's all-time charts, passing Erika Brinkman (2015).  Rodger is one clean sheets away from matching the school record of eight shutouts set by Kerstyn Williams (2017-2021).

Rodger Fourth in Saves: Emmy Rodger's 89 career saves already rank her fourth on the school's career list.  She is just seven stops behind Erika Brinkman (2015) for third on the career charts.

A First for Non-Conference Play:  Lourdes had never entered Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play without a loss in program history prior to this season.  In 2021, the Gray Wolves' previous best non-conference record, Lourdes posted a 3-1-3 record heading into WHAC action.

Another Scoreless Draw: The 0-0 tie with Goshen was the second scoreless draw this year for Lourdes.  The Gray Wolves also played 90 minutes at Roosevelt without a tally.  Lourdes has now played seven scoreless ties in program history, and for the second straight year had a pair of 0-0 contests.

Dillinger Leading the Offense: Kayla Dillinger leads Lourdes offensively with three points this season.  The sophomore has found the back of the net once and also added an assist.  Abigail Mann is the only Gray Wolf with two assists on the year while Lourdes is void of any multi-goal scorers at this point.

Mann Holds Career Records: Senior Abigail Mann already holds all of the school's career offensive records already.  The senior has scored 16 career goals, two more than any other player in program history, and notched her 13th career assist last week against Holy Cross (Ind.), four more than the second place total.  Mann's 45 career points are 11 in front of second place as well.  She also holds the school mark with 167 shot attempts, the only Gray Wolf with more than 100 on the list.  Mann's five match-winning goals are tied with Karlie O'Keefe (2016-2019) and current teammate Chloe Shaffer for most in school history.

Moving Up the Scoring List: Brynn McGarvey scored her seventh career goal in the opener against Rio Grande, moving her into a tie with Katie Varney (2019-2021) for seventh on the school's all-time goals list.  McGarvey also has 15 points now, moving into eighth place on the all-time charts, two points behind Jada Foster (2015-2016) for seventh.  The match-winner was the third of her career, moving into a tie with Clare Ciarlino (2016-2017) for sixth all-time.

Lending a Helping Foot:  In addition to Abigail Mann's school record assist total, Chloe Shaffer has handed out five career helpers, tied with Tara Blundell (2015, 2017) for fifth on the all-time charts at Lourdes.

That's a Lot of Action: Jules Snowden has now appeared in 61 matches during her career, tied with Helena Rammal (2015-2018) for third on the school's all-time list.  Snowden also ranks third in career starts with 57, four behind Maria Schmidt (2017-2020) for second.  Erin Caldwell is fourth with 59 career appearances while her 51 starts rank fourth all-time.

Gray Wolves Tabbed Sixth in WHAC Preseason Poll: Lourdes was selected to finish in sixth place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  The Gray Wolves were picked just behind fifth place Lawrence Tech.  Aquinas was chosen to win the league crown.

This and That:  Lourdes is outshooting its opponents 78-38 this season ... a total of 22 different Gray Wolves have stepped onto the pitch this year ... 17 different Lourdes players have at least one shot attempt ... the Gray Wolves have yielded just one corner in the second half while winning 16.
