Day 2 Results
Luis Guzman (Santo Domingo, D.R./Cranston East [R.I.] H.S.) moved into the quarterfinals of the B singles consolation draw while two Lourdes doubles teams advanced to the semifinals in their respective consolation doubles draws at the ITA Midwest Regional held at the Sutter Tennis Center in Marion, Ind.
Following a bye,
Theo Casadei (Annecy Le Vieux, France/CNED) and
Cody Keller (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) teamed for an 8-4 quarterfinal victory over Mount Vernon Nazarene to advance to the semifinals in the B doubles consolation draw.
In the main consolation doubles draw,
Ondrej Skokan (Pardubice, Czech Republic/Gymnazium Dasicka 1083) and
Ulises Barradas (Nueva Esparta, Venezuela/UE Colegio Madre Guadalupe) also advanced to the semifinals following a pair of walkovers on Thursday.
Guzman and
Josh Parish (Columbus, Ohio/Cristo Rey H.S.) battled back from 5-0 down to force a tie-break in their second round match in the main draw before falling to Indiana East 9-8 (8).
Guzman advanced in singles play following an 8-0 victory over Noah Hill of Mount Vernon Nazarene.
Casadei also picked up a victory in singles action, defeating Eric Stavnheim of Saint Francis (Ind.) by the same 8-0 victory in the round of 16 in the main draw. Then then fell in the quarterfinals against Mario Gomez of Goshen 8-3.
Keller and Parrish also had main draw matches in the B singles, dropping their round of 16 matches. Keller fell 8-3 to Indiana Wesleyan's Grant Wayner while Parish dropped an 8-0 decision to Takuga King of Lawrence Tech.
The Gray Wolves will return to the court on Friday for day three of the ITA Midwest Regional.
