The Lourdes men's tennis team opened the 2022-2023 season on Wednesday afternoon defeating Illinois College 9-0 before downing Anderson 8-1 at the AU Tennis Courts in Anderson, Ind.

The Gray Wolves came out in impressive fashion in the sweep of Illinois College. The doubles team
of Victor Dieltiens (Altea, Spain/Sint Eduardus) and
Ulises Barradas (Nueva Esparta, Venezuela/UE Colegio Madre Guadalupe) posted an 8-3 victory at first doubles while
Alvaro Trillo-Sanchez (Madrid, Spain/Churchill County [Nev.] H.S.) and
Luis Guzman (Santo Domingo, D.R./Cranston East [R.I.] H.S.) posted an 8-2 win at the second spot. Lourdes also won third doubles by default.
In singles play, Dieltiens cruised to a 6-0, 6-4 win at the top of the lineup while
Ondrej Skokan (Pardubice, Czech Republic/Gymnazium Dasicka 1083) recorded a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at the second spot. Barradas was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at third singles while Guzman notched a 6-2, 6-1 victory at number four.
Cody Keller (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) added a 6-0, 6-0 win at fifth singles while a default win at sixth completed the sweep.
Lourdes (2-0) won two of the three doubles matches against Anderson as well. Dieltiens and Barradas were 8-5 winners at the top of the lineup while Skokan and Keller teamed for an 8-4 victory at number three. The Ravens lone win came at second doubles, 8-2.
The Gray Wolves notched six straight set victories in singles play. Dieltiens won 6-0, 6-1 while Skokan notched a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Barradas cruised 6-2, 6-0 at third singles while Guzman picked up a 7-5, 6-2 win. Trillo-Sanchez was a 6-1, 6-0 victor while Keller completed the sweep with a 6-3, 6-4 win.
Lourdes will return to action on Friday and Saturday taking part in the Comet Invitational hosted by Capital.
