Women's Volleyball Begins Second Half of WHAC Play

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: The second half of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play opens this week for Lourdes beginning on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves host Concordia (Mich.).  Then this weekend, Lourdes heads to Grand Rapids, Mich. to battle Aquinas and Cornerstone.

Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his 14th season on the Lourdes bench, Greg Reitz has a 230-194 (.542) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  In his 16th season overall as a women's head coach, Reitz has a 250-229 (.522) career mark.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history and was named WHAC Coach of the Year in 2015.

Series Notes: Lourdes holds a 19-6 all-time advantage against Concordia (Mich.) in a series that began Aug. 20, 2010.  The Cardinals won the first meeting this season in five sets in Ann Arbor, Mich.  The Gray Wolves hold a 5-2 series edge inside the Ebeid Rec Center.  Aquinas leads the all-time series against the Gray Wolves 15-9 dating back to Oct. 7, 2011.  The Saints swept the first meeting this year in the Ebeid Rec Center.  Aquinas holds a 7-4 advantage all-time in Grand Rapids.  Cornerstone is 17-9 against Lourdes in a series that began Oct. 8, 2011.  The Gray Wolves won the first meeting this year in the Ebeid Rec Center in five sets.  The Golden Eagles are 10-0 against Lourdes all-time in Grand Rapids.

Wrapping Up Last Week (or Two Weeks Ago): Lourdes won the first two sets against Lawrence Tech on Sept. 27 but the Blue Devils rallied for a 20-25, 16-25, 25-10, 25-14, 15-10 win over the Gray Wolves.  McKenna Hall led Lourdes with 13 kills and 18 digs.  On Sept. 29, Siena Heights topped the Gray Wolves 28-30, 25-14, 25-18, 25-18.  Ella Lewis put down a team-high 13 kills for Lourdes.  The Gray Wolves closed the week on Sept. 30 with a 25-21, 25-18, 25-18 setback at Michigan-Dearborn.  Emma Coffey picked up 15 digs for Lourdes.

Scouting Concordia (Mich.): The Cardinals enter the match following a three-set sweep at Rochester (Mich.) last Wednesday (Oct. 4).  Kayla Peters leads Concordia with 267 kills while Madalyn Lisman is hitting a team-high .271.  Abigail Austin has handed out 776 assists while Emiline Wood has recorded 32 service aces.  Defensively, McKenzie Peters has picked up 403 digs while Jessalyn Peavyhouse has tallied 35 blocks.

Scouting Aquinas: The Saints enter the week having won five straight matches after downing  Lawrence Tech in four sets last Wednesday (Oct. 4).  Aquinas hosts Kuyper on Friday prior to facing the Gray Wolves.  Abbi Perkins has registered a team-high 266 kills this season while Samee Teachworth is hitting .316.  Lydia Harper has handed out 767 assists.  Harper and Cece Pelak each have 46 service aces.  On defense, Jordyn Carlyle has picked up 353 digs while Teachworth has a team-high 74 blocks.

Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles enter the week following a straight sets win against Michigan-Dearborn last Wednesday (Oct. 4).  Cornerstone heads to Lawrence Tech on Wednesday and hosts Siena Heights on Friday before entertaining Lourdes.  Emmalee Murphy has a team-high 208 kills this season while Kylie Barron is hitting .241.  Aubrey Lenz has handed out 689 assists and Kylie Andras leads the team with 26 aces.  On defense, Alli Pickard has 238 digs while Barron has 86 blocks.

Coffey Has Career Day: Emma Coffey had a career-high 15 digs for the Gray Wolves in their last outing at Michigan-Dearborn.  The effort was the first double figure dig match in her two seasons with the Gray Wolves, and she entered the contest with just 13 total digs on the year.  Coffey donned the libero jersey for the first time in the match.

Strong Serving: McKenna Hall has served up 25 aces this season for the Gray Wolves, accounting for more than a quarter of the team's aces.  She has been efficient behind the service line, having committed just six service errors as well.

Season Firsts: Kenady Cox and Ella Lewis both recorded their first double-doubles of the season two weeks ago for the Gray Wolves.  Cox had 22 assists and 13 digs against Siena Heights while Lewis put down 11 kills and dug up 22 balls against Lawrence Tech.  

McBride in the Record Books: Kylee McBride enters the week ranked sixth in program history with 708 total kills.  She needs just two more to match Ali Mass (2010-2013) for a spot in the top-five with 710 kills.  In addition, McBride is second all-time with 2,420 career attempts.  She also ranks ninth in program history playing in 282 career sets and 84 matches.

Hall Also on the All-Time Charts: McKenna Hall is in seventh place on the all-time kills list with 6667.  Hall is also fourth all-time with 2,277 career attempts and ranks sixth with 716 career digs, just seven shy of moving into the top-five.  Her 91 service aces rank fifth and her 99 blocks are ninth in program history.

Moving Into Second All-Time: Katey Stakolich has moved into second place all-time with 1,464 career assists, passing Hannah Thompson (2010-2011) on the all-time list.  She trails just Meghan Birr (2015-2016) who finished her career with 2,583 career helpers.

This and That: Arleena Willer and McKenna Hall are the only Gray Wolves to appear in all 15 matches this season ... Lourdes has won the first two sets four times this year.
