Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes begins a key three-match road trip to the state of Michigan this week as the Gray Wolves look to move into position to earn a berth in the postseason WHAC tournament. Â The Gray Wolves head to Concordia (Mich.) on Wednesday afternoon before traveling to Siena Heights for a Saturday afternoon affair.
Head Coach Jackie Phillips: In her ninth season on the Lourdes bench,
Jackie Phillips has a 57-78-18 (.431) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as overall as a head coach. Â She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes and Indiana Tech have split eight previous matches 4-4 in a series that began Oct. 17, 2015. Â The Gray Wolves have won the last two meetings following a 1-0 triumph at Wildcat Stadium last season. Â The Cardinals are 3-2 all-time against Lourdes in Ann Arbor, Mich. Â Siena Heights is 8-1-1 against Lourdes in a series that dates back to Oct. 31, 2015. Â The Saints have won two straight against the Gray Wolves after a 3-2 victory at Wildcat Stadium last year. Â Siena Heights is 4-1 against Lourdes in Adrian, Mich.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Indiana Tech scored a pair of goals in the first 19 minutes of the match last Wednesday and added another goal in the closing seconds as the Warriors defeated Lourdes 3-0 at Wildcat Stadium. Â
Emmy Rodger made three saves in goal for the Gray Wolves. Â On Saturday, Lourdes battled seventh-ranked Aquinas to the final minute before the Saints scored the lone goal of the match with 53 ticks left on the clock to defeat the Gray Wolves 1-0 at Wildcat Stadium. Â Rodger had eight saves between the posts.
Scouting Concordia (Mich.): The Cardinals have dropped three straight matches following a 1-0 setback at home against Michigan-Dearborn last Friday. Â Alyssa Pringle has scored a team-leading two goals and four total points while Micayla McGee and Rory Brown each have an assist. Â In goal, Hayley Jacobson has played a majority of the minutes, sporting a 2.99 goals against average and a .732 save percentage with two shutouts.
Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints enter the week having won five consecutive matches after a 2-1 triumph at Indiana Tech on Saturday. Â Parker Cheney and Marissa Young each lead the team with seven goals on the season. Â Cheney also has a team-high four assists and 18 total points. Â Between the posts, Caitlyn Harwood has played all but 105 minutes this year, posting a 0.40 goals against average and an .896 save percentage. Â She has six shutouts.
Battling for a WHAC Tournament Spot: With two weeks remaining in the regular season, Lourdes needs to pick up points to earn a berth in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament which begins Nov. 1. Â The Gray Wolves are currently four points out of the eighth and final qualifying spot, but have 12 available points still available.
Trio Lead Lourdes Offense: Taylir Lynam has scored a team-leading four goals this season and added her first assist of the year against Rochester (Mich.) to give her nine points on the season. Â
Keira Boskovich leads the team in points with 10, having scored three times while handing out a team-leading four assists. Â
Kayden Firsdon has added three assists during her rookie season.
Moving Up the Scoring List: Kayla Dillinger continues to move up the scoring list. Â Dillinger has seven career goals moving her into a tie for eighth place on Lourdes' all-time list with Katie Varney (2019-2021) and
Erin Caldwell (2018-2022). Â Dillinger's 17 career points also move her into a tie with Jada Foster (2015-2016) for eighth place on that list. Dillinger has three career match-winning goals as well, tying her with Clare Ciarlino (2016-2017) for seventh in program history. Â
Rodger on Career Netminding Lists: Emmy Rodger is at or near the top of every career Lourdes goalkeeping category. Â Her 17 shutouts are nine more than any other Gray Wolf. Â Her .804 career save percentage and 1.02 goals against average are also all-time bests at Lourdes. Â Rodger ranks third with 180 career saves and her 3874 career minutes are 116 shy of the school mark.
Pencil Her in the Lineup: Gianna Salatino has started every match for the Gray Wolves this season, giving her 58 career starts wearing the terra cotta and black. Â She has moved into fifth place alone on the career list and Salatino now needs just three more starting assignments to move into a tie for third on the all-time list. Â Salatino has appeared in 66 career matches, sixth most in program history. Â She is three appearances shy of moving into a four-way tie for second place all-time.Â
Captains Named: Lourdes has a pair of co-captains for the 2023 season. Â
Simona Iacobacci and
Gianna Salatino in the leadership position. Â Iacobacci is a first time team captain while Salatino is serving in the role for the second consecutive season.
Gray Wolves Tabbed Sixth in WHAC Preseason Poll: Lourdes was selected to finish in sixth place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches. Â The Gray Wolves were picked just behind fifth place Northwestern Ohio. Â Aquinas was chosen to win the league crown.
This and That: Ten different Gray Wolves have scored this season and a total of 12 players have at least one point ... Lourdes has been outshot 126-65 on the season but just 79-65 on goal.
