Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: Lourdes returns home to the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center this week for three matches. The Gray Wolves will entertain Indiana Tech on Wednesday evening followed by Madonna and Rochester (Mich.) on Friday and Saturday nights respectively.
Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his 14th season on the Lourdes bench,
Greg Reitz has a 230-197 (.539) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. In his 16th season overall as a women's head coach, Reitz has a 250-232 (.519) career mark. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history and was named WHAC Coach of the Year in 2015.
Series Notes: Indiana Tech holds a 14-10 all-time advantage against Lourdes in a series that began Oct. 1, 2010. The Warriors have won four straight matches between the two schools after defeating the Gray Wolves in straight sets earlier this year on Sept. 20. The series is tied 3-3 in the Ebeid Rec Center. Madonna leads the all-time series against the Gray Wolves 14-11 dating back to Oct. 8, 2010. The Crusaders swept the first meeting this year in Livonia, Mich. for their second straight win in the series. The Gray Wolves hold a 4-3 advantage all-time in the Ebeid Rec Center. Lourdes is 13-4 against Rochester (Mich.) in a series that began Aug. 21, 2010. The Gray Wolves won the first meeting this year in Rochester Hills, Mich. in four sets for their second straight series win. The series is tied 3-3 in the Ebeid Rec Center.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes took the opening set from Concordia (Mich.) on Wednesday but the Cardinals responded to post a 20-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-18 win in the Ebeid Rec Center.
Kylee McBride put down 19 kills while
Arleena Willer had 17 digs. On Friday, the Gray Wolves were swept by Aquinas 25-15, 25-17, 25-16 in Grand Rapids, Mich. McBride had a team-high eight kills and Willer had eight digs. Saturday Lourdes fell 25-13, 25-21, 25-15 to Cornerstone.
Ella Lewis posted nine kills and
Mia Lopez had 16 digs.
Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors enter the match having won three straight contests after sweeping Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday. Noelle Vanoort leads the team with 334 kills and 51 service aces while Taylor Sorg is hitting .340. Andrea Schriver has handed out 97 assists. Defensively, Jacey Blust has picked up 384 digs while Jacqueline Allaway has 56 total blocks.
Scouting Madonna: The Crusaders enter the week having dropped a five-set match to Indiana Tech last Friday. Madonna travels to Lawrence Tech on Wednesday before visiting Lourdes. Kira Buza leads Madonna with 190 kills and is hitting .291 on the season while Kacie Stoneburner and Karlee Stoll have 389 and 365 assists respectively. Stoll has also served up 32 aces. On defense, Khloee Stoll has a team-high 260 digs while Jaeda Porter has 87 blocks.
Scouting Rochester (Mich.): The Warriors enter the week having dropped 11 consecutive matches after losing at home against Lawrence Tech in four sets on Saturday. Rochester hosts Siena Heights on Wednesday and visits Michigan-Dearborn on Friday before battling the Gray Wolves. Olivia Francis has a team-leading 200 kills this season and is hitting .130 while Charlotte Warner has handed out 402 assists. Warner also has a team-high 31 service aces. Defensively, Gabby Costello has registered 341 digs while Darcy Bennin has a team-high 46 blocks, including 13 of the solo variety.
McBride Likes Facing Concordia: Kylee McBride has posted big numbers for the Gray Wolves against Concordia (Mich.) this season. She had a school-record 29 kills in the first meeting against the Cardinals on Sept. 6 before adding 19 more in a four-set contest last Wednesday.
Strong Serving: McKenna Hall has served up 32 aces this season for the Gray Wolves, accounting for nearly one-third of the team's aces. She has been efficient behind the service line, having committed just eight service errors as well.
McBride in the Record Books: Kylee McBride enters the week ranked fifth in program history with 741 total kills. She needs just seven more to match Molly Shonk (2015-2016) for fourth all-time with 748 kills. In addition, McBride is second all-time with 2,543 career attempts. She also ranks ninth in program history playing in 292 career sets and 87 matches.
Hall Also on the All-Time Charts: McKenna Hall is in seventh place on the all-time kills list with 690. Hall is also third all-time with 2,368 career attempts and ranks fifth with 742 career digs. Her 98 service aces rank fourth and her 102 blocks are ninth most in program history.
Moving Into Second All-Time: Katey Stakolich has moved into second place all-time with 1,520 career assists, passing Hannah Thompson (2010-2011) on the all-time list. She trails just Meghan Birr (2015-2016) who finished her career with 2,583 career helpers.
This and That: Arleena Willer and
McKenna Hall are the only Gray Wolves to appear in all 18 matches this season ... the duo are also the only Lourdes players to appear in at least 53 of the team's 68 sets ... Lourdes has yet to sweep an opponent this year.
