Madonna and Rochester Ahead for Women's Soccer

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes returns to the pitch on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves entertain Madonna at Wildcat Stadium.  The Gray Wolves then take to the road for the only time in this five-match stretch on Friday afternoon, visiting Rochester (Mich.).

Head Coach Jackie Phillips: In her ninth season on the Lourdes bench, Jackie Phillips has a 57-74-18 (.443) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as overall as a head coach.  She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Madonna is 9-0-1 all-time against Lourdes in a series that began Sept. 30, 2015.  The Crusaders have won the last five meetings between the two schools after downing the Gray Wolves 1-0 during the regular season and 2-0 in the WHAC semifinals last season, with both matches being played in Livonia, Mich.  Madonna is 4-0 against Lourdes at Wildcat Stadium.  The Gray Wolves hold a 5-1-2 series advantage against Rochester (Mich.) dating back to Sept. 2, 2015.  The Gray Wolves have won four straight matches against the Warriors after defeating Rochester 2-1 at Wildcat Stadium last season.  Lourdes is 3-0-1 all-time on Rochester's home field.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Northwestern Ohio scored three times in a 16-minute stretch spanning both halves on Wednesday as the Racers defeated Lourdes 4-2 in Lima, Ohio.  Taylir Lynam and Simona Iacobacci each found the back of the net for the Gray Wolves.  Emmy Rodger made a pair of saves in goal for Lourdes.  On Saturday, Lawrence Tech scored twice early on the way to a 3-0 victory over Lourdes at Wildcat Stadium.  Samarah Arendsen made nine saves in goal in her first collegiate start.

Scouting Madonna: The Crusaders enter the match following a 1-0 loss at home against fourth-ranked Aquinas on Saturday.  Holly McManus leads Madonna offensively with three eight points.  McManus and Victoria Sia each have a team-high three goals while Karina Arnold has dished out three assists.  In goal, Veronica Kozak sports a 0.80 goals against average and an .852 save percentage while Mackenzie Fifer has a 1.40 GAA and a .759 save mark splitting time.

Scouting Rochester (Mich.): The Warriors enter the week having won eight straight matches after downing Indiana Tech 1-0 on the road Saturday.  Rochester travels to Aquinas on Tuesday before hosting Lourdes.  Sammi Springer has scored a team-leading seven goals and has 15 total points this season for the Warriors while Kennedy Fraser has handed out four assists.  In goal, Noemie Tartrou has played a majority of the minutes, notching a 0.96 goals against average and a .741 save percentage.

Lynam Takes over Scoring Lead: Taylir Lynam notched her fourth goal of her rookie season last Wednesday at Northwestern Ohio to tie the match at one.  Lynam has a team-leading 19 shot attempts this season, with 12 of them being on goal.  Her four tallies have come in four separate games, including the match-winner against Olivet.

Iacobacci Nets First Collegiate Goal: Simona Iacobacci scored for the first time in her collegiate career last Wednesday at Northwestern Ohio.  In her fourth season with the program, Iacobacci was appearing in her 23rd career game when she netted not just her first goal, but also her first collegiate points.

Arendsen Makes First Career Start: Samarah Arendsen saw her first action in a starting role on Saturday evening against Lawrence Tech.  The freshman had played just 23 minutes prior to the match and made nine saves for the Gray Wolves against the Blue Devils.
 
Moving Up the Scoring List: Kayla Dillinger continues to move up the scoring list.  Dillinger has seven career goals moving her into a tie for eighth place on Lourdes' all-time list with Katie Varney (2019-2021) and Erin Caldwell (2018-2022).  Dillinger's 17 career points also move her into a tie with Jada Foster (2015-2016) for eighth place on that list. Dillinger has three career match-winning goals as well, tying her with Clare Ciarlino (2016-2017) for seventh in program history.  

A Record Holder in Goal: Emmy Rodger is programs' the all-time leader with a 0.90 goals against and an .820 save percentage.  She has increased her school mark to 17 shutouts and also ranks third in program history with 159 total saves.

Pencil Her in the Lineup: Gianna Salatino has started every match for the Gray Wolves this season, giving her 54 career starts wearing the terra cotta and black.  She has moved into fifth place alone on the career list and Salatino now needs just seven more starting assignments to move into a tie for third on the all-time list.  Salatino has appeared in 62 career matches, tied for seventh most in program history. 

Captains Named: Lourdes has a pair of co-captains for the 2023 season.  Simona Iacobacci and Gianna Salatino in the leadership position.  Iacobacci is a first time team captain while Salatino is serving in the role for the second consecutive season.

Gray Wolves Tabbed Sixth in WHAC Preseason Poll: Lourdes was selected to finish in sixth place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  The Gray Wolves were picked just behind fifth place Northwestern Ohio.  Aquinas was chosen to win the league crown.

This and That: Nine different Gray Wolves have scored this season and a total of 10 players have at least one point ... Keira Boskovich continues to hold the team's scoring lead with 10 points on three goals and four assists ... Boskovich's four helpers this season are tied for fifth on the single season charts.
