Final Results

Lourdes faced a nationally-ranked opponent for the first time this season on Tuesday, dropping a 6-1 decision to 19^th-ranked Indiana Tech inside at Shadow Valley Tennis Club.
 
Indiana Tech (2-3, 1-0 WHAC) opened winning the doubles point.  Bella Chela (Lusaka, Zambia/Pretoria H.S. for Girls) and Cleo Moore (Atlanta, Ga./Riverwood International H.S.) fell by a 6-3 score at the top of the lineup while Olivia Schoppa (Gutersloh, Germany/Stadtisches Gymnasium Gutersloh) and Laura Ortiz (Bogota, Columbia/Gimnasio Los Pinos) fell by the same score at the second spot.  Lourdes was awarded the third doubles win by default.
 
"We have put a lot of work into our doubles and are making steady but slow progress," head coach Epifani Jones said.  "This was the toughest opponent we've faced and was a great learning experience, especially for the four new ladies."
 
Lourdes picked up its lone point by default at sixth singles, but the Warriors took the other five matches all in straight sets.  Mallory Schardt (Temperance, Mich./Bedford H.S.) fell 6-0, 6-3 at the top of the order while Chela lost 6-2, 6-2 at number two.  At third singles, Moore fell 6-4, 6-1 while Schoppa dropped a 6-1, 6-0 match at the fourth slot.  Ortiz dropped a 6-1, 6-3 match at number five.
 
Lourdes (1-6, 0-3) returns to the courts on Wednesday afternoon, as the Gray Wolves host Olivet.  First serve is set for 1 p.m. inside Shadow Valley.
